Convenient to everywhere I needed to go. Low end type of facility. Probably could have found a better facility for less money if I had looked around a bit more.
TV reception was mediocre
Staff friendly and good price,location
Sheets were dirty pillows smelled like dog no place to park could smell cigarette smoke
Location and hot tub
Room poor condition with broken rug jagged metal exposed at entry way. Loud construction work outside room with workers unannounced on second floor porch. Unmade room even when we left room at seven am and left please make up room tag on the door. Had to call front desk x3 for needed towels. And the list goes on......
Nothing - we didn't stay because they gave our room away!
First - don't even try to call this place. You get sent through an IVR in another state, that half the time routes you to a voicemail box that is full. Even if you do make it to a representative, you have to wait at least 5+ minutes - there can't be THAT many people calling?! Now onto the night we arrived - We informed the hotel three times ahead of time on our late arrival (phone call, email, kayak check-in). I even received a text message from the hotel the day of saying the were aware of our late arrival! When we got there (after flying in from Denver & traveling from Sac airport) a little after 12am, we called the "after hours" line. Once we received keys, we proceeded to "our" room. Upon opening the door - there was SOMEONE IN THERE! When we called back, they had us check another room which WAS ALSO OCCUPIED. On the third call back (at 1am) the representative put us on hold for 10 minutes, hung up on us once, only to tell us we were out of luck. She did suggest "moving people out of their rooms" - who even knows what that meant. At that point, we just wanted an UNOCCUPIED bed. Thankfully we found a nice spot across the street at the Best Western - HIGHLY recommend this property! When we approached the hotel the next day, it was less than positive. While the front desk lady tried to be accommodating, it infuriated my fiance that she didn't apologize immediately and too defense. I know it's a crappy situation for everyone but could have approached the situation better. If you do pick this hotel - don't even think about arriving after hours. It was a horrible customer experience overall - from calling ahead of time, to the night in question, and I'm not even sure we got our money back. I grew up in the area, and have stayed at many hotels in South Lake. There are so many other good spots in Tahoe - maybe look elsewhere.
The room was clean and comfortable. The style had a very Tahoe feel. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rates were affordable. Plus there was a jacuzzi tub in the tv area. How awesome is that? Also had the largest shower I've ever seen in a hotel.
Parking is a little tight. If you get back late, you'll probably have to drive around the property to find a spot. The first night we had trouble getting the tv to work, but was quickly fixed by the front counter guy on his way home after closing the lobby. The sink plunger somehow got stuck shut and we couldn't find a release lever. We had to prop the plunger open with a plastic knife so the sink would drain.
Loved bringing our dog :)
Bummed the pool and hot tub weren't running!
The price was right - I got an online deal that turned out to come to $50/night. The staff was responsive when I asked to have my room changed and didn't fight me on it.
This is an older hotel that I think is being remodeled. I was put in a room that was next to two units that were being gutted and totally remodeled. Therefore, it was noisy, which was a problem because I went there for a personal retreat. Facilities and rooms were not 3 star at all. I think there might be newer parts that are more modern and with better amenities. I wasn't in that part.
The location was great. It was near the central part of town with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment nearby and easy access to Heavenly Ski Resort. I loved having a fireplace in my room after a long day on the mountain, though you do have to pay $10 for firewood. They also have a large hot tub, which I personally didn't use, but it is nice.
Cleanliness was an issue here. I don't believe the sheets are actually changed/washed. The housekeepers seem to just make the bed, spot check the bathroom, and vacuum. When I was arrived, I was looking forward to getting some rest on the first day. When I uncovered my pillows, there was a couple of long strands of hair on one of the pillows, which made me doubt the linens had been changed. I reported it to the staff member there that night and asked for another pillowcase. He said he would ask his housekeeper for one and bring it to me (no apology), and he never did. The next day, I asked for the room to be serviced, and when I got back from another day on the mountain, I uncovered the pillows again to find the same hair on the pillow. Also, when I decided to use the dresser in the room, there appeared to be dried sperm on the bottom of the drawer... Gross. They need to be more attentive to detail when cleaning. The resort is also in need of updating. It looks run down once you get into the rooms. The window unit AC/heater was not functioning well, and even with a fire going the room was cold at night.
Clean, affordable, nice staff... Need I say more?
Room was nice and romantic. Fireplace added a nice touch. Staff was helpful and nice.
We had a issue with our DVD player. They did come up right away to replace it. I decided the morning before our departure to take a jUCUZZI bath, but it didn't work. That was a frustrating way to leave. Overall though we would come back.
Gary the GM was very accomodating and was able to meet all our needs for our 1 night stay!!
I enjoyed the staff, Deon was exceptionally nice. The room was clean and comfortable. I like the wood cabin vibe. Also, the pricing was great, we were able to stay for 3 nights for a very reasonable price. I love that animals are welcomed to the hotel, it made it feel more at home.
Dog-friendly and walking distance to the Gondola and Heavenly Village. Great deal, will stay again!
