The white man came on the scene in 1679, and in 1692, the Hudson Bay Company set up a small trading post known as Fond-Du-Lac. Today, the city is a bustling port city and offers several things of interest to tourists like the Great Lakes Aquarium, the nation's largest freshwater aquarium, the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor's Center, which features lots of maritime goodies includes items from old ship wrecks, as well as a tour of the S.
