Great location for Staples and Convention Centre
I booked this online without any real sense of local geography and was really pleasantly surprised - the hotel is perfectlylocated for the Convention Centre and most of the major downtown hotels. The price I paid was much lower than my colleagues had managed to find for their hotels some of which were nowhere near so conveniently placed. My room was comfortable and clean with reasonable wifi and while not enormous was fine for what I needed. The bar has a nice vibe in evenings, reasonably priced and the menu was great. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Don't expect a view or much natural light! My room looked onto a brick wall, but as I was really only there to sleep it was fine. Noise from the floor above was annoying and the business centre facilities were minimal - basic printing and conference table.
No working AC, front desk threatened not to check us in after 12am
Location was good, one man working at the front desk was polite and helpful
No working AC when it was 97 degrees this weekend, front desk woman said no one would be able to check us in after 12 am, front desk woman refused to give us ice even though there is no ice machine accessible to guests, woman working at front desk were constantly rude and unhelpful, rooms and hallways smell like food and are stuffy
The location was great and close to everything in Downtown. Its a quick Uber ride to Hollywood. It has a boutique feel so don't stay there if you are looking for a hotel chain feel. The hotel itself is very trendy. It has a bar and restaurant downstairs. We also like the fact that you have to use your card to take the elevator to your room which makes it feel more safe and exclusive.
The room was small but I suppose big enough for us 2. We used it mostly to sleep. The room is a little old and worn out but it worked out ok considering we paid less than the other hotels going rate. There was a smell we couldn't make out. It went away after we were there for a day.
Location is only upside
The location was perfect for what I needed access to.
Staff were condescending and dismissive (particularly Javie) with very poor customer service skills. In the middle of my completely calm discussion with Javie about why he tried charging me twice for my stay (with an outrageous incidental hold charge), I was on the receiving end of the rudest "hold on" finger gesture when he decided that was the appropriate moment to take a phone call. Dark, stuffy hallways, dark rooms (the few lights that were in the room were dim and poorly located), broken down mattress, SPIDERS (killed three during my 7-day stay), and breakfast was weak (OJ, bran cereal, coffee/tea, instant oatmeal). Neighboring rooms were noisy beyond belief. I was awakened in the middle of the night several times throughout my stay to a screaming child, elephants upstairs and neighboring rooms blasting loud music on the featured Samsung Smart TVs. While on the way to the hotel prior to my stay, I was excited to see I could text the hotel to check in and ask questions. Microwaves available? No. This made leftovers from restaurants wasted. Could you provide me service and price information for your spa? No, here's the phone number so you can call them yourself. Truly disappointing and put a big damper on my first trip to LA. BUT, if you need a hotel that is centrally located, and the Milner and Biltmore are too pricey for you, then O Hotel is in a good spot.
