Best food I have had at an all inclusive in Puerto Plata. Staff was very friendly with lots of activities. Service in restaurants was incredible, by day two Domingo knew what we wanted and had it ready for every meal by the time we were there. Top shelf liquors available at select bars, safe is free, casino is right next door, beautiful beach, close to airport and city, would likely go back. We had 24 people come from 15 to 78 and all had a great time (and not one person was ill from food) Definitely more family oriented than for younger people, rooms were a bit dated... We had an outlet hanging out and a fridge that didn't work (we weren't in there very much), restaurant reservations can be hard to come by (if you get one go Japanese, by far the best) , less beach people trying to push excursions than other places but still there (they are honest and had better deals for the same stuff as the resort, IE we had resort goers in our group set up by the beach guys, but we paid a lot less), good liquor is really only found at the front bar
Weather , staff from other hotels bugging in beachfront , loud bad music at restaurant
Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Puerto Plata and I have been to five of them. Gorgeous views, courteous staff, all your needs addressed, good food, only place I have stayed as a resort/hotel that actually has Dominican food. It was not all inclusive. Food and drinks are seperate. However the prices are reasonable and the week was cheaper than I expected. Next time knowing that I will just budget differently.
I liked the beach near by. As well as the city and other turist atraction out of the hotel were close by Internet (wifi) was not included and to pay for the service was too expensive. I wished they would have charged me in dollars instead of pesos.
Staff, location, breakfast by the beach Only their local low grade alcohol was included/one restaurant needed an appointment and the other you had to pay for
The pool and the beach were beautiful There was no variety in the food . The entertainment was mediocre. Expresso was only available after 10am which I find ridiculous since espresso is usually drank for breakfast. I've traveled to other resorts in that strip and I prefer Barcelo which is next to Grand Paradise . The front desk receptionists are very rude.
It was so nice to have everything pre-paid and to enjoy doing or eating whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. The Beach was lovely. The pool clean and beautiful. The room was quaint and the balconey a major plus!! Staff was often unavailable and unhelpful. When trying to plan our arrival, we emailed asking about taxi services available and got no response. We finally called twice and were told they didn't provide any taxi service and that we should get a cab for $15 from the airport. When we arrived we were surprised to find a sign with our name on it and transportation waiting for ur...they picked us up in a BUS (for two of us!) . We thought it was great luck...and then the next day told us they were charging us $60 for it! Over three times what they quotd to us before. It was a major issue - the whole situation was due to a miscommunication among their staff and job division there.
1. Proximity to beach 2. The staff was amazing and friendly, very accomodating 3. Pool was great 4. Restaurant onsite was great 5. Could pay for things with credit card 5. Room was nice 1. Proximity to beach was good but Playa Dorada is far from the main City of Puerto Plata, so a cab costs 17$ if arranged by the hotel (or $35 round trip)... you can negotiate in town for cheaper though 2. The hotel is great, but again the location may be kind of boring if you are looking to go into quickly/cheaply at night... good for families or people who just want to relax 3. There is no where to buy some snacks, beers, etc (like a mini mart or colmado) to bring back to your room. They do have room service and you can get drinks at their bar til 12am (reasonably priced too) but if you want some other snakcs and such on hand you will have to go into town.
Close to the beach Not All inclusive. Bar tender always missing from the bar in the pool.
The setting where the resort is and the beach is beautiful. The food was pretty good most of the time and the staff was very friendly. I had two rooms. One was way more dated than the picture online. The difference between the two rooms was pretty bad. One was just ok, while the other was a decade behind the other.
The staff was very courteous and accommodating. As soon as I got there I was told I would not be staying at the crown residence. Instead I was moved to the tropical garden area and was told it was an upgrade, which it wasn't. It was actually a downgrade.I was never told the exact reason for the move.
