Points négatifs: Le seul tout petit bémol que nous avons remarqué est que le pommeau de douche était un peu cheap par rapport au reste de la salle de bain et de la chambre. Dans un endroit si beau et cozy, on pourrait s'attendre à un lit un peu plus grand. Le parking se trouve à 5 bonnes minutes de marche de l'hôtel. Le personnel est cependant très volontaire pour nous aider à y emporter nos bagages et à nous y guider.

Points positifs: D'abord, j'ai trouvé l'endroit plus beau que sur les photos. En vrai, il y a une âme nichée dans cet écrin un peu caché du reste du monde! Et puis, Rosa et Luis ainsi que l'équipe vous accueillent comme des membres de leur famille! Ils ont été pour ma fille de 1 an et demi une véritable grand-mère et un grand frère! La piscine est top, la chambre rustique mais confort. Et la Quinta se trouve à 10 min de Viana do Castelo.Top!

Points positifs: It was overall a fantastic stay. Alberto and Rosa were attentive hosts, and every breakfast was a little feast! Lots of attention to detail, warmth and a charming location make la Quinta do Valle do Monte a very special retreat for couples or families.

Points positifs: A lovely old style house with comfortable rooms, gardenand orchards and a good sized pool. Our hosts could not have been kinder making us very welcome with lovely eat treats and a great breakfast. We had to leave very early to catch a plane and they provided a packed breakfast for us to take. This is a veritable oasis in the outer reaches of the town with good road access in all directions and a 10 -15 minute drive to the beach, and town. There is a restaurant/ bar serving food and 2 large supermarkets within a 5 minute walk.

Points négatifs: The location is fine if you have a car and are happy to drive mostly everywhere including further up the valley for some peaceful walks but there is nowhere for pleasant evening strolls directly from the house.

Points positifs: The room was spacious with a small sitting area, very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a selection of food to suit most tastes. The location was good for visiting various places. We left the car at the hotel secure car park and travelled by train to Porto and Viana do Castell. The small stion is five minutes walk from the hotel, with very helpful staff.

Points négatifs: You need to let the reception know your approximate time of arrival in order to have the gates open. After the first time you have your own key.

Points positifs: Bel établissement, calme et reposant où on se sent bien, qui a été apprécié par tous les membres de la famille (parents et enfants de 8 et 2 ans). Le proprietaire et le personnel ont été très gentils et très attentionnés tout au long de notre séjour. Ils ont contribué à le rendre plus facile et agréable en nous conseillant sur les visites et activités et en nous portant assistance à la moindre difficulté. Chambre familiale spacieuse, beau cadre, joli jardin, agréable piscine et plusieurs salons. Très bon petit déjeuner !

Points négatifs: It was very hot and the rooms didn't have aircondition. The hotel has a lot of stairs everywhere -inside and out (also to the pool) - but no railings to hold on to, which was a problem for my mother. On the webpage it says that its handicap friendly. This is really not true, eventhough the host was kind to change my parents room to one on the ground floor.

Points positifs: The Quinta is set in beautiful gardens with a lovely swimming pool, fountains, and places to relax. Our ‘casa’ was luxurious and had every convenience.

Points négatifs: Absolutely nothing. You’re best to have a car in this area of Portugal but we managed 3 days without one. It’s short bus or taxi to Viana. Breakfast was delicious each morning, although perhaps a slightly earlier start than 9am. But you get into the relaxing swing of things.

Points positifs: HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property! Lovely grounds, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable and spacious room, fun pool table and relaxing area. It is close to the beach, close to small towns nearby, and Kira the black lab is extremely friendly and welcoming.

Points négatifs: The only complaint we have for the entire stay was the beds were very firm, but the rest of the property makes up for it.

Points positifs: The hostess’s welcome is kind and VERY (too?) detailed, but a tad too directive and overbearing. At times it makes you feel like a little child who needs to be taught house rules. Too much content is imparted upon you, whether you find it useful or need it at all in the first place. The room we had was a “suite” and thus featured a little anteroom with a kitchenette hidden in a large closet. The bedroom itself was nice, spacious and well appointed, although in that category, the bed could have been at least queen size —and wasn’t. The real downside is that there was NO WINDOW! The walk-in door was glass but needed to be curtained against the heat of the blazing afternoon sun (and the passing other guests!), and there was a minuscule vasistas around the walkway to the bathroom, but no window at all in the bedroom itself, which made it cavernous and claustrophobic. The room was not in the main building. Not one free power wall socket in sight! Don’t those hoteliers know that their guests have smartphones, tablets, cameras, portable computers, and all manners of assorted electrical appliances that need regular recharging? I had to unplug a lamp in the anteroom to recharge our things. No air conditioning, except for a very small unit in the bathroom, useless to cool the bedroom. The only appliance available was one of those column-type fans that worked more or less OK, except that it was on a 2-hour timer that forced me to get up several times during the night to get it started again! Unacceptable in that price range. The WiFi worked... until it went down, and couldn’t be restarted until the morning. You must avoid this place if you depend on a fast WiFi connection, for example for work purposes. (Read rest of review below)

Points négatifs: The bathroom was good and in general well provided, but there are no red and blue markings on the taps, so you don’t know which way is hot and you’re kept wondering for quite a while as hot water takes that long to come on... Shower products are in quantities adequate, yet not overly generous, but strangely only shampoo and a strange little plastic bottle labeled “body lotion”... but no obvious shower gel in sight! Had to use an old one taken from previous hotel. Finally, the breakfast is good but nothing to really write home about as the hostess seemed to think: for example, no smoked salmon or other fish, eggs scrambled but not otherwise cooked, etc. AND you cannot have it before 9am, which is again unacceptable for an establishment in that price range: not all guests are on vacation, and even those who are may need to have an early start now and then! One last word to the wise: hotel owners and managers sometimes reply to guest advice and critique, and sometimes quite sharply. Remember then that I have no vested interest in saying good or not so good things about the places I stay at, while owners and managers do have a vested interest in selling you theirs products and services...

Points négatifs: There was a bit of damp in our bedroom. The breakfast was very fresh and healthy, just could’ve done with a few more local pastries, I have a sweet tooth!

Points positifs: Really beautiful building and immaculately maintained grounds and swimming pool. Very convenient for Viana but we preferred using the bikes to explore the fantastic beaches along this stretch of coast using the scenic trail. The kitchen out-building is very useful for those not wanting to drive to a restaurant, just stock up on food from the local shop, open the wine and eat in the garden beside the pool. The breakfast is legendary.

Points positifs: The hosts were fantastic and made our 4 day stay perfect. The breakfast was amazing, with freshly prepared and locally grown fruit, homemade jams, eggs if wanted, fresh coffee, it was just great. The building is beautiful. As we travelled in October we didn't use the pool due to the weather but we will definitely return in the future, the pool and outside area were beautifully kept, with a bbq area and a kitchen for guests to use. It is in a quiet location but within easy reach of the beach and Viana de Castelo which has shops and historic places to visit.

Points positifs: A repeat visit to a friendly hotel which is close to the central avenue of Viana. I liked the breakfast and welcoming staff. All the equipment in the room was working and satisfactory including the heating, which was needed this time.

Points positifs: The service was fantastic! Eduardo assisted us with the check-in and helpful tips about tourist attractions and restaurants. The rooms are modern and very clean and the beds were comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay!

Points négatifs: La taille des draps incompatibles avec la taille du lit.

Points positifs: L'emplacement est magnifique et la vue depuis le balcon de la salle de déjeuner est incroyable. Les chambres étaient grandes et bien équipées. Le petit déjeuner est complet mais pas exceptionnel. Parking privé grand et ombragé. L'hôtel est très beau.

Points négatifs: J'ai été déçue par le rapport qualité prix car on paye très cher un hôtel qui se revendique "luxe" mais qui ne l'est pas : salle de bain très petite, déco des chambres vieillotte. Le personnel est loin, mais alors très loin de ce qu'on est en droit d'attendre dans un tel établissement : pas de bagagistes, attente à la réception, réflexion pour avoir fumer au bord de la piscine... La piscine est un peu loin et surtout il n'y a pas d'accès direct : il faut traverser le hall et sortir dehors. En plus elle n'est pas chauffée. En septembre ce serait pourtant nécessaire. Le bar de la piscine ne sert que du vin ou des sodas : pas de café ni de cocktail. La vue des chambres en tout cas des nôtres étaient nulles. Pas de balcon. Enfin on nous demande de laisser une "donation" à la fin du séjour : certes c'est facultatif et certes ce n'est que de 1€ mais elle est déjà imprimée sur la facture comme s'il allait de soi de l'accepter. Bref tout un tas de petites choses qui accumulées nous ont laissé une mauvaise impression.

Points négatifs: Des fourmis dans notre chambre bien que la chambre était au 3ieme. On nous a donné une nouvelle chambre vers 23h mais je ne me serais pas attendu à des fourmis dans un établissement aussi prestigieux. Les chambres auraient besoin d'être modernisée. Même chose pour les plancher des corridors.

Points positifs: The view was amazing, which was the main reason we decided to stay at the hotel for one night. Staff were super friendly. Breakfast was nice. Not many people so we enjoyed the quietness. Water pressure was very good. The interior was unique and beautiful. Exterior is superb as well. Location is great; only a few minutes walk from the escalator. The balcony was spacious with a table and chairs.

Points négatifs: No free water. Some ants in the bathroom. Green gate to the Santa Luzia Sanctuary was closed on our departure day, so we had to jump off the stone fence. There weren't too many electric sockets in the room.

Points positifs: Stunning location, offered superior room with balcony overlooking basilica, able to play grand piano, food fabulous, service genuine and kind. Room a wonderful surprise. Great wine at good prices. Simply gorgeous. Ample parking for road travellers.

Points positifs: It was a very positive surprise. The welcome was very friendly and we benefited from an upgrade to a large bedroom which has two large windows. It's very well located and offers a good breakfast.

Points positifs: It's a very beautiful and quiet setting, the bed is probably one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in.

Points négatifs: The breakfast was good, but small quantity. If you happen to not like one of the items then you'll be hungry. Exzample, 2 very thin slices of cheese per person, one thin slice of ham and 1 small slice of marmalade. If you do'nt like any of these items (I don't like ham) so I was stuck with 2 minute slices of cheese and a tiny bit of marmalade. While we were there the internet did not work at any time, and the tv didn't work either, so it wasn't very possible to just chill out to watch a film in the end of a sightseeing day. We requested if there were some dvds we could watch but the only solution we were given was to hang out on the common room. We had taken a weekend to hang out with each other and chill so it wasn't an option for us. On the last day, there was no electricity in our flat, so we couldn't shower. When checking the lectrical board it became apparent that the wiring was old and it seemed a bit unsafe. None of these things are the end of the world, but for the price they charge, I would expect a little bit more professionalism.

The breakfast gets to your door every morning, also option for vegetarians. The house is cleaned properly every day. Big thanks to Gabriel and Katherine for their hospitality. There are several walking trails near the property.

Points positifs: Lovely rebuilt hotel incorporating some of the old factory. Chocolate themed rooms and chocolates in the room. Very comfortable beds. As a pilgrim on the camino, it was wonderful to find the hotel actually on the route! Your stay includes a visit to the chocolate museum and a drink from the café. I had a chocolate cocktail!

Points positifs: Rooms, designs, theme, staff, welcome drink, bed (size and comfy), location, breakfast - everything was amazing! Excellent stay along the Camino Portugues (Coastal route) and well worth the slightly higher price point.

It is directly on the Camino and easy to find. Big room and bigger bed!! Spacious shower a d immaculate bathroom. Chocolate everywhere..including the room fragrance..great fun. Breakfast was superb and all good quality . 10/10 is not enough!!!❤️

Points positifs: Très bon séjour, petit-déjeuner et cocktail d'arrivé.

Points négatifs: Le bruit de l'aération dans la salle de bain et le fait aussi qu'il n'y ait pas de porte entre la salle de bain et le reste de la chambre (partage des odeurs...).

Points négatifs: Chambre extrêmement petite. Le parking n existe pas au niveau de l hotel. Il faut aller dans un parking à l exterieur

Points positifs: The owner was a very friendly man,he gave us an upgrade on our room for free, gave all the info about visiting the town, gave us an address of a good resto not far from the hotel(Camelo).Room was spacious and the place was quiet.10 min drive to town.

Points positifs: The room is very clean, with a comfortable bed. Big and clean bathroom. The guy from reception very nice, he didn't speak English too good, but he tried in all the languages he knew to tell us all about the town. They have a nice garden, where you can relax.

Points négatifs: The location is not quite good. We were on bikes and it was ok for us, but walking is like 20 minutes from center.

Points positifs: The staff are among the nicest people you can meet. Very helpful, they do their best to look after your best interests. As soon as we arrived, the owner quickly helped is find a place to eat despite it being quite late for lunch. He left a great impression on us and we will surely come back as soon as we can.

Points positifs: The staff was very friendly, I had a reservation for a standard bedroom and they switched me to a renovated one because it was free at the moment. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast had a view to the little river and the fields, super relaxing!

I spent two days here sojourning from my Camino and highly recommend Hotel A Ponte. Very good value for money includes breakfast with food available on site. Location is just a little way out from the centre but well worth it.

Points positifs: All the amenities provided by the hotel were excellent. Dinner and breakfast were buffet style with a wide and plentiful range of food to cater for all dietary requirements. The rooms are large and comfortable with great views, we were on the fifth floor. Using the garage adds that little security when travelling with a full car. The staff, in all areas, were pleasant and courteous and helpful. Altogether a restful stay.

Points négatifs: European style breakfast isn’t enough protein for a day on the Camino. Would have loved to have an option for something with protein- eggs, or at least yogurt. Bread with jam and cheese, orange juice and coffee or tea were offered.And what looked to be flan. However the fresh fruit was delicious- such good melon!

Points positifs: A very nice location, in the historical center. Relatively quiet, tho' with some noise from a bakery across the street. It gets quiet by around 9 pm, so it isn't a big deal. Comfortable bed. Very clean room. Friendly staff although they aren't very present, because they also are busy running a restaurant down stairs.

Points négatifs: The shower was not as hot as I like it. It was warm enough to be okay, but a little disappointing. The fact that there is seldom anyone at the front desk is not great, although you can always get someone's attention by going down to the restaurant. And the people running the place ARE friendly and helpful.

Points positifs: The location is great, in the heart of Viana do Castello. We got a spacious deluxe room with a view of the Basillica. Pastelaria Manuel Natario is right across the street- hot Bolas de Berlim at 11:30 every day!

Points négatifs: Walls are thin, we could hear our neighbors very clearly. Reception was only really open in the afternoon for checkin, we didn't realize that we could checkout in the restaurant after breakfast. No elevators.

Points positifs: nous avons été très bien accueillis à notre arrivée. l'hôtel est très bien placé dans la ville. Le petit-déjeuner est très bon, copieux, varié et non standardisé. Nous avons aussi apprécié le restaurant lors d'un dîner très agréable.

Points positifs: The accommodation is in a very good location in the old centre but in a quiet street, it's also quite close to the train- and busstation. The owner and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Allthough the breakfast wasn't big, the quality was really good, everything was very fresh and tasty. I also had a light meal in the restaurant that belongs to the accommodation and what I ordered was also good quality!

Points négatifs: The walls of teh room are a bit thin so I could hear the neighbours sometimes but it wasn't really a problem.

Points positifs: Situé au coeur de la vieille ville de Viana do Castelo, personnel très accueillant. Chambres confortables. Très bon rapport qualité-prix- situation. Pas de parking privé, mais possibilité de déposer la voiture au parking public pour la nuit au tarif de 2 € (demander renseignement à la réception).

Points positifs: The location was definitely the best part of this hotel - it is a quick walk from the train station (which is in a lovely part of town itself) and located within the bounds of the medieval center of town. There are lots of sights, museums, and restaurants in the area. It's about a 20-minute walk to Praia Norte, but it's an easy walk so we didn't mind. The table service during breakfast was also very nice - felt like being waited on in a restaurant!

Points négatifs: We left the window open overnight and the street cleaners woke us up - not the hotel's fault, but just something to be mindful of if your room overlooks the straight as ours did.

Points positifs: La pension est très propre, bien meublé et décoré, le personnel très gentil, idéalement placé seul point négatif le petit déj bas de gamme et l'odeur de renfermé (une constante au Portugal)

Points négatifs: C'était bruyant la nuit car il est non loin de la rue. C'était un week-end et les bars ont été ouverts très tard !

Points positifs: The young lady on the reception desk was very friendly and welcoming and helpful in suggesting places to visit during our stay. The room was clean, simply furnished and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was also very adequate. Free public parking is available a short distance away but this needs to be timed for late afternoon. There is also a nearer underground car park.

Points négatifs: Suggest that it is not worth paying more for a room with a river view as one has to strain the neck to see it. Our room with the supposed river view also incurred a lot of traffic noise.

Points positifs: The hotel had a great style and a comfortable room. We arrived during a festival which meant the street outside was loud but we were able to use the air con so we could still sleep. Good breakfast selection.

Points positifs: Both João and Christina went out of their way to make it an amazing stay. João walked across the street to the parking lot to find us and get us from the car to the hotel, and later, on his own time he came back to tell us that we had left our lights on. We arrived in the middle of a three day festival and the staff made sure we got the best out of it.

Points positifs: Le cadre est très beau, il y a un grand terrain. Pas de problème de stationnement. Les bâtiments de pierres sont beaux . Les petits déjeuners étaient bons et la salle à manger agréable. C’est un endroit calme où il est possible de relaxer près d’une piscine ou sur une terrasse.

Points négatifs: La suite était sombre et avait une odeur de renfermé et d’humidité qui persistait même si on aérait. Le wifi était instable et parfois ne fonctionnait pas. Une fois il n’a pas été possible de régler la température de l’eau de la douche : elle demeurait soit froide soit bouillante.

Points positifs: Unique experience really. We stayed in the apartment #1 for the family for 4-5 people. It was beyond our expectation - great atmosphere, spacious and very, very comfortable. The adjacent territory of this accommodation is amazing - impressive landscaping, parking insight. This place clearly has historic heritage! If you travel by a car with family, this is the best choice ever - at least it was for us. Very friendly personnel. Lastly - breakfast! Not Sofitel range of choices but everything was delicious and fresh. Great serving of the tables. If we are ever around, we will definitely select this location.

Points négatifs: Le Spa est en piteux état. Le carrelage se décolle et il y a de la moisissure partout dans les locaux du Spa. De plus, les cours d’aquagym sont tenus en face du sauna, ce qui rend impossible la relaxation. Et pour tout jet d’eau dans la piscine il faut se munir de petites pièces de monnaie(?!) Dans la chambre ont fait défaut le plateau café / thé à disposition. Et la moquette dans la salle de bain est un énorme faux pas au niveau hygiène.

Points négatifs: Room didnt have seats on the veranda. Only had one comfortable armchair for 2 people. Carpet in the barthroom was dirty and worn. Only bath tub with a shower attachment. Terrace decking was broken. Not a four star hotel. Spa was dirty. Not a very good breakfast. Only a coffee urn with bitter warm liquid in it.

Points positifs: A very nice hotel, with beautiful views over the Atlantic.The room and breakfast were excellent. Great promenade out in front and just a few minutes drive into the historic center and across the river to a beautiful beach.
