Points positifs : The car was great.
Points négatifs : I rarely rent cars so this may be common knowledge, but when they say you dont need to return the car with a full tank of petrol, you should still do it. Hertz charged me themselves on a per litre basis to a full tank, then added an extra 20% fee on top. They should have advised me this on pick up!

Points négatifs : I had tried to get a smaller automatic car but apparently there is only one Golf @ Toulouse. I come several times a year - is it possible to reserve the only one ?

Points négatifs : For automatic cars, it would be good to have more choices in terms of car models.

not as advertised
Points positifs : The car drove nicely and got good gas mileage
Points négatifs : The Hertz rental page I selected on line showed a picture of a small van to accommodate seven adults, but the actual car was a very small station wagon which was extremely cramped and with absolutely zero space for luggage. Extremely misleading.

Terrible customer service
Points négatifs : My rental was for 150 euros, and then when I went to pick it up, they asked about insurance. I had three options: 1) full coverage for additional 150 euros, 2) partial coverage for 90 euros and 3) accept full responsibilities if there is an accident. I told the lady that 90 euros was quite excessive for two days of rental, and she nodded. She said "because you did not call from an European call centre." I found this to be silly, and filled out a complaint form with the local provincal bureau (Galicia). When I went to drop off the car, the lady seemed to make a bit of a big deal about my gas being half full. I told the lady that the other lady said that because I had paid 70 euros in advance for gas, I don't have to worry about filling it up. They would refund whatever gas I had left in the tank. The lady in the counter told me to go to gas station to fill up, and I asked why. "because it is cheaper." It made no sense. She was frustrated and gave up, but I insisted on for complete explanation. She waved it off so I got really angry and demanded her to explain. She walked away to office, and a manager came out. He understood and explained that they refund the gas charges if you return the car with a full tank only. That made more sense. They should explain more in details rather than just saying simple things. I was not impressed with their customer service.

Points négatifs : Je loue rarement des voitures, donc ça peut être une connaissance commune, mais quand ils disent que vous n'avez pas besoin de retourner la voiture avec un plein réservoir d'essence, vous devriez toujours le faire. Hertz m'a fait payer par litre à un plein réservoir, puis a ajouté 20% de frais supplémentaires en plus. Ils auraient dû m'en informer lors de leur prise en charge !
