Points positifs : When I got to the rental office I was the only costumer there. Two staff were on their computers either helping someone online or playing games. I could not tell because there was no communication. Ten minutes went by and finally one asked if he could help me. Come to find out he couldn't. I had reserved and paid in advance for a full-size pick-up. What I was offered was a mid-size pick-up. This would not work as I was moving across State and needed to pack and move my things in one trip (280 miles each way).
I called costumer service who also offered no resolution, only read from a scrip, and repeated how sorry they were that they left me without a vehicle which I reserved and paid for in advance.
The "off-shore" as she called herself also informed me that it would take 7 business days to get a refund. Both for the pre-paid rental and the $200 security deposit which they had just ran.
I was forced to use my own car as no other rental trucks were available according to the off-shore service rep. This meant I had to leave valuable things behind when I moved.
I will not rent from Hertz again and have serious reservations about using web-sites such as yours who promote/allow this type behavior from your vendors.
Points négatifs : Tell Hertz to live up to their rental agreement and ensure Kayak puts pressure on them or boot them from your web-site. This lack of commitment affects peoples lives and well-being.
Points négatifs : The commercial van I rented wasn't really clean inside. Especially during the pandemic, you would think they'd at least try to make it look like it had been conscientiously wiped down. But at least the vehicle was actually there as promised, which has been a problem lately at multiple places.
Points positifs : The staff were okay picking up the vehicle was faster than I thought it would be. Drop off was simple. I would recommend!

Points négatifs : The address for the location in Durham was hard to find. The GPS took us to a parking lot a quarter of a mile away that had the same address.

Long wait for car, hard attempt to upsell, a week for receipt
Points positifs : Car was great.
Points négatifs : Long wait to get the car and a lot of attempt to upsell with add-ons and upgrades. Also took 7 days to be able to get my receipt from website. Never did get by email even after calling to ensure correct email on file. Was told this would be ready by Tuesday and wasn't until Thursday when I could get via website. Drop off was previous Friday.
Tried To Stick Me With Other Fees
Points positifs : Price was great and the pickup was extremely quick.
Points négatifs : After paying for the reservation through Kayak, the sales associate told me that because Kayak is a 3rd Party, the don’t include all the fees that you have to pay. That made no sense. Come to find out they were trying to charge an underage fee when I clearly wasn’t underage. The associate told me he couldn’t remove the charge, but his manager will reduce the amount that I have to pay. I told them that if I’m of age, that there is no way I’m paying an underage fee, even if it was added by accident. I ended up talking to another associate and he understood my situation and started removing the charge right away. I didn’t pay anthything extra. I just didn’t like the amount of time I wasted trying to convince them that I wasn’t going to pay a charge that didn’t apply to me. I’ll still continue to rent from them.
Fine car, but slow takeout
Points positifs : Fine car and online system was easy. Return was fine.
Points négatifs : The pickup was quite complicated and took a while, though, as the guys there somehow didn't manage to deal with my European IDs. Worked fine in the end, but took a while...
