It was clean. They tried to keep the hookers and drug dealers on the first and second floor and everyone else on the third. Very seedy. I was staying with my adult daughter and I didn't feel safe for her or myself at all. Even though the prostitutes and dealers seemed to have been assigned rooms on the lower floors they would roam the breezeways of the third. The elevator's safety inspection certificate expired in 2008 and I could tell was self-maintained due to the button on the third floor said 2 and was turned sideways. The TV was a twenty inch CRT model that only received a religious station probably due to on air broadcasters ceasing analog transmissions in 2009. I honestly believe that this could potentially dangerous place to stay and would not under any circumstances stay with young children.
We really enjoyed our stay at Lafayette Motel. The staff was very helpful and we were greeted with a smile (scarse on these days). Very nice location. I'm looking forward to come back soon.Sanjay the Front Desk Agent was very nice to us by offering us a description of the area and by offering us different tours to make our stay more enjoyable. Great stay
They lied on late checkou They lied on late checkout, tried to charge more money
Closer to the beach The air conditioner was blowing out very good , the floors was sweet good enough , no tub plug , ran out of towels during my stay
Location. Pool. WiFi. Kitchen. Dirty. Needs updating all over.
location hotel room; refrigerator sitting on chair with a phone book under the refrigerator to keep it level.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Terrible condition. Holes in the walls, broken tiles in the ceiling and shower. Very dirty. If it wasn't just for one night I would have left and gone to another hotel.
große Suite. big Room. very dirty, two cockroach in the refrigerator one in the bathroom! Next room without animals but not cleanly, in the kitchen was the dirt and the trash from previous owner in the Cabinets! Never come back!!!
The hotel was run down and not clean holes in the wall bathroom door didn't close it was completely awful. Hotel has potential but renovation is greatly needed!!!!!
An old style Americana type motel in the middle of modernity. Somewhat quirky and probably won't appeal to many people who expect steel/glass/granite of new hotels. Only a few minutes from the beach of Fort Lauderdale.
budgethotel and unfortunately not very clean rooms not clean
Staff was friendly and it has a pool and close to the beach and restaurants Easy check out and the price was best in town I found. Parking was easy and convenience Has wifi The room I had was old and didn't feel very comfortable Washroom was somewhat dirty and feels disgusting Still using the old big TV Has wifi but no password given unless you call front desk Overall feels uncomfortable and couldn't sleep or shower in it yet I got to say they cleaned it pretty well. It just feels too old and uncomfortable
Too far from airport and ship port. Was not clean. Didn't book our shuttle when we requested it. Continental Breakfast was awful.
The hotel was located across the street from the beach which was easily accessible. Many restaurants and clubs were nearby. Staff was helpful when we were in need of cab service. The bathroom, although small, had been recently renovated. The hotel is in need of updating. Many things were outdated. We felt the room was overpriced, although we were there during high season.
This hotel was an unexpected treat because has the original architecture, lighting and friendly staff without even trying to market their retro vibe. Reminds me of the hotels in the south florida mysterIes I love to read, Best part, I was a little worried because I was unfamiliar with the area, no problems at all, we even left our car unlocked without knowing. Great bar and fun bartender, make sure you ask the price of the "Skittle" shot offered before you order one or more!!!
Nothing that we liked, my wife wanted to leave immediately and couldn't wait to leave, we travel the world, but this hotel is no three star, may be less than one.
Customer service was horrible. I damaged by vehicle on the building because there were no signs warning me of a sharp turn. When I asked for help the staff was rude. When I asked for assistance from the manager over the phone he made excuses for his staff and refused to help with expenses to fix my vehicle.
I liked the staff, the kinda retro vibe, low keyed. It was right next to the beach, just had to cross the A1A. Bar right there, free breakfast. Lauderdale by the Sea is more relaxed than Ft. Lauderdale and they didn't allow spring breakers in so there was never loud noise. I would highly recommend this hotel. It was all fine. It isn't luxury by any means so if you like super fancy, this isn't the place. Other than that, it was perfect.
The staff was very friendly. I was happy to be close to the beach. For the money I paid, I was very far from the airport and any sort of night life. But that was definitely not the worst. I do not like to give bad reviews, but the room was hot and musty, the mattresses were covered in plastic and worst of all, my friend got BED BUGS. Talk about being embarrassed about booking that room. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone.
Nothing. I could not wait to check out. Nonsmoking room smelled like smoke. the room I was transferred to had the A.C. off. I had the front desk figure out the connection. the room did not cool off until after 3 A.M.
The staff were very pleasant & helpful. The hotel was in a prime location and we could use two beaches. One was within 5 - 10 minutes walking distance and the 'Fort Lauderdale Beach' was 5 - 10 minutes on the bus. There were a great choice of restaurants in the area too.
It is a "nothing special hotel", next to a very busy road. Luckily my room was not noisy. Maybe the breakfast is a little boring after a few days. Also the wireless had problems in my room.
Staff was was friendly, WIFI was very sporadic....and had to be outside to use it. So bring a long Ethernet cable as the port may not be in an ideal location (mine was hidden behind the TV stand) . Bar was closed (by the state of Florida.....not sure why.) Close to Beach, local stores and restaurants. Not fancy....no frills....but a good value. WIFI isn't strong ....must be outside of room (in patio area) to use. Even then it was sporadic. Parking was a little limited due to the rear parking lot losing about 10 spaces due to being flooded.
Staff was friendly and location was good. Just a short walk to the beach and shops. Good value. Mattress was basic and pretty firm. The room, in particular the bathroom, was dated and in need of renovations. The pool was right in front and not very private from the street or other rooms. Decorative fountains had green water that needed to be cleaned.
Friendly check in person The room was filthy. The toilet paper has been peed on. The bedspread had filth on it. The bathroom door was dirty. 2 cockroaches were seen. i paid top dollar for a place that could have ranked lower than the homeless shelter. Never again!
Location and friendliness of staff
The staff was very nice and helpful. You can't beat the location and the room was clean and comfortable. Looking forward to another stay soon. parking was a bit tight but it was free. Not really a problem unless you drive a big car or SUV.

It was so clean and in a perfect location! Loved the beach chairs and umbrellas you could grab and go.
The Location and the rate! There was not a lobby, and there was not someone on site past a certain time of night and so if you needed to talk to someone about anything, there was not anyone there. Possibly by phone, but not on site.
Great location, just steps away from the beach. Ocean view room delivered the view. Snooze also proved beach chairs and a beach umbrella -- unexpected bonus! Only drawback (but, they are working on this one): no ice machine, yet. Soon, they say.
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and loved every second of it. It's a newly renovated, modern hotel. While we were there they were working on the roof and we're very excited to come back and use that next year. The porch area they have now is small, but awesome. We were able to sit in the chairs everyday. they also give you free wifi access which will reach to the beach! it's slow since they're so much usage, but that's more than most of the other hotels give you. You also get chairs, towels, and umbrellas for free! Everything you need on vacation but food is right there! Joe and the owner Robert were there every day and made sure we knew they were available for anything we needed!

Lovation is key, and this hotel is right across the street from the beach. The rooms are modern, well kept, and the rooftop seating was the cherry on this diamond in the ruff. I highly recommend this hotel as an affordable vacation spot. Minor things. The rooms don't have plungers and it's kind of embarassing to have to ask the front desk for one. Seems like something every room should have. Aside from that, it was a bit of a bummer that rooftop access was limited to office hours.
Great location and room are really big and nice looking No
I loved the clean, crisp look of the decor and tile flooring. The bathroom and bedding were basic but clean and bright. It was in a prime location and walking distance to many retail and, coffee shops, restaurants and bars. We were leaving for a cruise and the port everglades area is just a mile away. For the price it was an excellent place and the staff was friendly, but were a little strict about people smoking by their vehicles on the street. They also had a closed off courtyard/patio around back that had chairs, picnic tables and flowers to relax and enjoy the sunny weather. Definitely recommend. Staff were friendly but seemed strict in my opinion to tell someone they cant stand by their own vehicle to smoke.
gerants canadiens fort sympatiques
The hotel is aged, but clean and adequate. The young couple who run it were so helpful and nice. Didn't like the lighting in the room. Could have used a second bedside lamp and 'warmer' lighting instead of the white light bulbs. Location is great! Neighborhood seems safe, street is a major one so we never got lost and found plenty of amenities nearby. Having a Starbucks next door was very nice! Free internet was appreciated, although we got bounced off now and then. Expected complimentary bath products (shampoo/conditioner) and was surprised to not get any. Swimming pool looked inviting, but we never had time to use it. No elevator and we were not offered a downstairs room. It was not fun dragging our large suitcases up the stairs, but we managed. All in all, we felt that we got good value for the price we paid, and would definitely recommend Bali Hai to our friends. If we ever return to Fort Lauderdale, we would probably return to this hotel too.
Decent sized room, nice TV, and a mini fridge Bugs in the room!! and very thin walls (but not ultimately a huge problem)
It was clean-close to my appointmentsWould recommend it for a night or twoReasonable rate Bed was hard and Uncomfortable-lots of outside noise Not for a long stay
Unfortunately I cannot judge the hotel adequately at the moment as I had beg bug attack in it. Everything went fine until the last day, when I woke up with bytes on my body. I was victim of a bed bugs attack, and this was confirmed also by the hotel owner after checking the room.
Our room was large but I did not care but I did not care for the way it was designed. The kitchenette had a sink that served as the sink for the entire room - no bathroom sink. It was clean, but I would probably choose another place in the future.
