Points positifs: This is a very special place. We stayed two nights. It is full of history and beautiful antiques. We enjoyed our large room and beautiful bathroom. Walking the grounds in fall weather was lovely. The buildings are a joy to explore and the location and town of Guimaraes is tremendous. We did not want to leave. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding. They spoiled us and it was nice to sit by the fire on a chilly morning. Staff and service were excellent.

Points positifs: Renovated rooms and restaurant done very nicely. Close to downtown sites. Had one of our better dinners in HOOF restaurant and breakfast there was very nice with lots of options. Wifi worked well and room was quiet. Parking was free about 150 m from hotel. If in area would definitely re-book.

Mais, ne partez pas sans avoir profiter de L'EXCELLENTE TABLE DE LEUR RESTAURANT; notre souper a été un enchantement pour les papilles ; bravo au chef. A 5 minutes à pied du stationnement intérieur dont nous pouvions disposer.

Le Santiago 31 Hostel est situé sur la Praça de S. Tiago, dans le centre historique de Guimarães et à moins de 5 minutes à pied du château typique de la ville. Le Santiago 31 possède des lits dans des dortoirs mixtes et des chambres privées doubles, triples et quadruples. La plupart des hébergements disposent d'une salle de bains commune, à l'exception de la chambre quadruple qui bénéficie d'une salle de bains privative. Certains hébergements comportent un balcon et/ou une terrasse avec vue sur la ville. Points positifs: the hotel staff are so nice and helpful; room pretty clean. great location, in the center, with supermarket froiz 3-minute walk, train station 800 meters away. locals are extremely kind; 2 people directed me to the hotel.
Points négatifs: it’s not the hotel’s fault, but i have to mention it for your information, a bit noisy. people are so active around this area. with a bar downstairs, on every single midnight, mostly until early morning, it’s just like an evening plaza.

Points positifs: A great place for a glimpse of living in the old Portuguese era. Wish I could have read all the clippings on the wall in the breakfast room. A little bit of bygone days , right smack in city of Guimaraes. Slice of country, chickens, ducks, swans, peacocks @ a lovely attended garden, @ an amazing big Portuguese home. Very close to bus station to visit other cities, walking distance to all old town tourist attractions.

Points positifs: A rather unique property very well located in the center of the city. The house is very old and traditional, so may not be everyone’s cup of tea if you like more stylish and modern surroundings. However, we enjoyed our brief stay with our dog, as the staff was really friendly with us. We arrived on a really rainy night but the old, traditionally-styled room quickly became cozy after we turned on some heating. There is a lovely garden on the property with trees, flowers and swans. Two dogs guard the property and can do some barking at night, but only if they are disturbed. Breakfast was standard but tasty and the owners were super friendly. The location especially is perfect for exploring the center of Guimaraes.

The owner/host was apathetic and even seemed put out by our arrival. The parking, however, was easy and that is a plus in this busy, touristy town. Points négatifs: Stayed three nights and bathroom towels were unchanged. We had a noise two nights in a row in our room which sounded like a rodent scurrying around the floor. We mentioned at breakfast, owner disinterested or concerned. Very frustrating. There was a comment from owner last morning of our stay that it may have been mother’s cat in the room above scurrying around at night! Owner didn’t offer any suggestions of where to eat or locations to visit

Points positifs: Bien placé à quelques minutes de marche des points d’attractions. Le personnel très aimable. Le petit-déjeuner est très goûteux. Chambre propre et bien décorée. Assurez-vous de bien suivre les panneaux routiers pour cet hôtel.
Points négatifs: Il n’a pas de stationnement propre à l’hôtel. Nous avons stationné dans la rue sans problème mais nous n’étions pas dans une période très achalandée. Very cold in the rooms and everywhere but maybe that's just what Portugal is in autumn. Heating in room worked, but was very noisy. There is a strange rule you cannot check in before 2pm, or you pay 15euro more. Had to wait 15min to check without this extra cost (like I understand if I came 3 hours earlier, but this I dont understand.

La chambre était spacieuse et très confortable. Le petit-déjeuner était très complet. Nous avons bien apprécié les pâtisseries locales qui étaient proposées.
Points négatifs: La signalétique pour trouver l'entrée de l'hôtel pourrait être améliorée. En effet, l'entrée de l'hôtel, accessible à pied par une galerie marchande, puis par une tonnelle située à l'angle d'une petite place, est un petit jeu de pistes. Le panneau "Hôtel" est même caché par des plantes grimpantes (glycine). Nous avons relevé des bruits assez forts de canalisation et d'écoulements d'eau provenant de l'étage supérieur (probablement la salle de bains).

The hotel would not return our money although they did upgrade the room. Points positifs: Breakfast was average but the staff and location were great. We enjoyed the restaurant they recommended, inexpensive and quality food and drink.
Points négatifs: Parking close to the facility to unload or load car can be a challenge.

Points positifs: Was just across road from bus station which was good for us, also just a 7 minute walk to football stadium which is what we was there for, Room was cleaned each day and has a 24 hour bar.
Points négatifs: Could have done with an extra bath towel in room as one I had was a bit small,

Points négatifs: Air con turned off and if you opened the window it was very noisy. Staff not very helpful.
