Points négatifs : By the return date they over charged me R$300 for a scratch that I wasnt aware of. A simple flannel and wax would take care of it. I rent cars all over the world and I never had a problem with a rental. This was the first time. Brazil what to expect?

Points négatifs : You drop the car off in a hotel with no signs telling you where it is. This is dangerous in brazil. You need signs telling you where to drop it off. All of the other companies have signs where to return the car. Also I got insurance through kayak. Alliance global. It doesn't work in brazil. So don't sell people insurance that doesn't work. I was ripped off. Thanks kayak.

I couldn’t believe it
Points positifs : They were polite at the dealer.
Points négatifs : I arrived at the airport at Rio de Janeiro with my reservation on hand, and the agent told that he couldn’t find it on the system. He was arguing I had to go to the other Alamo agency located in Copacabana to pick up my rental. Guess what?, at the other agancy they told me the exact same thing, but also told me that the reservation was due, and that they didn’t have any other rental until weeks later. I ended up taking Ubers everywhere.. :-(

Do not rent from Kayak.com

Points négatifs : Nothing, i lost the reservation because i was a few hours late because of connection issues, and either way the insurance that KAYAK sold me was not from alamo and i would have paid a HUGE amount of money as a guarantee when i would have need less 7 times less if the insurance was bought with them(the difference was 20$ kayak did not gave me options). So i don't know if i should blame Alamo or kayak.com but i'm never renting anything with you guys again.

Points négatifs : Car broke down, was told that recovery or repair wasn't an option and had to pay retail price for rental car. Got back from vacation, received several phone calls and texts from Alamo wanting to know where the vehicle was so they could repair and recover it.

Mis advertising
Points positifs : The journey in the car
Points négatifs : After a lot of research we came across as Alamo offering us the best price for the sort of car we were looking for. The picture shown was misleading and we booked it online. We went through the terms and conditions. We even took the advertised insurance on top of it. But at the collection it was a whole different story. We signed the contract at the airport which took half an hour. We were driven to another location and were subjected to the same process for another 30minutes. We were told we may have insurance but the total amount didn't include the rental company's insurance which would be on top of the price quoted. We were also asked to give an unrealistic amount as security deposit. The car was a small not as expected. When discussed the rep said it was as they were told to keep an automatic with power steering. In essence we had to pay so many extras for silly things. We didn't want an extra driver but since the booking name and credit card had my name I had to be take it although I wasn't the driver my friend was. We requested a better car which they refused and cancelled our booking. We then had to get another car from the limited options they had available for 3 times the price with still the extra added insanities. It terrible experience. The lack of English language skills on behalf of the rep being the least of it.. I will never ever recommend kayak website or Alamo or even renting a car in a country such as Brazil.. Beware!!! Terrible service and misleading advertising.

Points positifs : The staff is friendly, but they probably don't have access to the needed resources.
Points négatifs : I rented a Premium SUV and they gave me a Station Wagon. It didn't fit all luggage and I had to use one of the seats to take everything.
