Points négatifs : Staff at FLL was not good. Front desk member ignored me in the line (there was no one else around, but she didn't look up from what she was doing at her desk). Then she told me I didn't have a reservation. She asked me if I knew what state we were in (my reservation was a one-way from FL to PA), then she asked me if I wanted to pay the fuel charge and I told her yes, but she didn't charge me for it (I found this out upon drop off only). On top of it all, this minivan was disgusting - it had ANTS! Nice 16.5 hour drive with ants crawling all over the kids and me. Gross.
Points positifs : Nothing about Hertz. Staff have bad attitudes and are not helpful at all. Even when I call customer service to get get help, the front-line reps cannot help, and if you ask for a manager, you will either be put on hold forever, told no manager is available, or offered a call-back that never actually happens. I just had an awful experience with a rental including a promised discount (resulting from a prior bad experience) not being honored, an incorrect fueling charge, and generally rude service. I looked my car rental records, and realized I have rented from several companies including Avis, Enterprise, Fox, Sixt, Europcar, Greencar, and I have only really had bad experiences with Hertz brands (Thrifty, Dollar, and Hertz). Now that I have seen a pattern, I know better to use one of the other companies.
Points négatifs : Honor promised discounts, don't incorrectly charge refueling fees, make sure managers and people with actual authority to fix problems (instead of making excuses) work at the call centers, and actually provide the products advertised (one Dollar provided me a Kia Soul when I had rented a mid-sized car. The lady at the counter told me this was an 'upgrade.' She said it with a straight face, too.)

Points négatifs : The pick-up at Ft. Lauderdale is difficult for people that did not fly into the airport. There is nowhere for a person to drive up and drop you off. Once you find your way into the lot, it is not clear where to go and Hertz no longer has many employees in the lot area for assistance. It's a long walk back into the terminal and a Hertz counter, which is ultimately where you need to go. The car had a number of scratches before I picked it up. Hertz made it my responsibility to document these scratches before taking the car off the lot. You should not do that to people. You know that the scratches exist. You should pre-print them on the rental agreement before handing it to me to sign. It's not fair to try and stick me with scratches that I have nothing to do with. The return in Stuart was also a bit of a problem. There were nine people ahead of me when I got there and only one person working to help people. That one person was taking a great deal of time with each of the people in front of me. I eventually left the keys and walked away hoping that the the staff could check my car in without me and e-mail the receipt, which they eventually did. It all worked out, but it could have been better.
Points positifs : They were out of cars and I had to make a separate reservation at another car rental place. I never used this prepaid reservation and would like a refund.
Points négatifs : They need to better anticipate demand during the holiday season.

Points positifs : Car was in great condition and easy to drive. Drop off was super easy. Pick up was relatively smooth. Friendly staff.
Points négatifs : Pick up was slower than expected given that I was the only customer there at the time and there seemed to be at least 3 staff people available. They apparently needed to clean the car after I got there, which was a little perplexing since I arrived right on time based on my reservation time. However it wasn't really that big a deal as overall it didn't take too long.
