Points positifs: Les onsen !

Points positifs: Completely exceeded my expectations! The view, the surroundings, the onsen and also the food! Simply unique!

Points positifs: Le onsen
10,0 Excellent
9,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Central location, staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Points négatifs: Entry and exit on the road is a little tricky...... but very typical for Japan
7,0 Bien
Points positifs: Onsen
Points négatifs: No shower in the room although rooms are big and could easily be a shower in the hallway
9,0 Excellent
Points positifs: I stayed here twice this week... the staff are great and made me feel welcome. The property is a little older but this is not of significance. The baths are lovely and welcomed after a day of walking. The half board option ( incl breakfast and dinner) was great value... dinner had 14 different dishes and each was delicious!
Points négatifs: Swapping buildings for dinner, but probably good to have the exercise after the yummy dinner!
6,3 Bien

Points positifs: Great location and helpful, friendly staff
Points négatifs: Nothing
7,0 Bien
Points positifs: the staff were very helpful when it came to travel information. also they offered pick up service from oboke station upon guests' arrival and shuttle bus from hotel to oboke ship every morning which was rly good. the onsen was surprisingly good when compared to the price.
Points négatifs: i was offered a smoking room but i asked for a non-smoking one. the smoking smell was so strong that i couldn't sleep.
7,0 Bien
Points positifs: The shuttle service to Oboke Station is easy for guests especially those that have big luggages.
Points négatifs: The onsen is located from a different building from our rooms so we need to get down to the lobby to transfer to another lift.

6,7 Bien
Points positifs: Very friendly, accommodating staff who will go out of their way to welcome you. The food was beautifully presented and felt like a very authentic experience, particularly for first time travellers to Japan.
Points négatifs: Overall the hotel felt dated and tired, in need of some editing of decor and finishings. It was disappointing to have to pay extra for the private onsen experience and be confronted with a hidden “spring tax” on the bill when we checked out, particularly because the hotel did not appear full or busy at all, and it certainly did not look or feel like spring. Many of the trees that colour the landscape in photos on the internet are bare at this time of the year. I was also disappointed to see that a bottle of sake sold at the gift shop was almost half the price of what they charged for one at dinner. It felt like a hotel and tourist area way past it’s hey day, trying to squeeze money from people wherever they could. For example, they charge tourists (not the hotel), around 1,000yen to cross the famous vine bridge down the road which I thought was pretty shocking. To be honest the whole area I will not visit again, we hired a car and drove past many abandoned buildings, there wasn’t that much to do or see or restaurants to visit that weren’t totally overpriced and average. Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel or area for travellers.
9,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Large and very comfortable room. Professionnal and helful employees Nice situation close to Kazurabashi bridge and to the road to the east part of Iya Valley. Wonderful outdoor onsen reached by a small private cablecar. Nice Japanese dinner and breakfast.
Points négatifs: Japanese price too high for european people
10,0 Excellent
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Room and all facilities was definitely clean. Open air onsen that located on the top of mountain was nice. All staffs were very kind. Highly recommend!
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The hot spring was exceptional.
Points négatifs: Would have been nice to be able to buy some cold local fresh milk after the hot spring.
8,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The service and the food served are good.
Points négatifs: No shuttle service available from Oboke Station and the frequency of the bus around that around is not good.
10,0 Excellent
8,0 Excellent
Points positifs: I asked a vegetarian option and they offered good vegi meals.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Fantastic service from all the staff. One of the best hotels we have stayed in so far. Mr Okada provided us with the information of places of interest in detail and even provided us the map codes of the places which was really helpful since we were driving. Mr Okada was really very helpful and he could communicate very well in English which made it so easy for us. Quality of food was also very good. We had half board, dinners and breakfast were really good. We opt for western breakfast for day 2. Quality was just as good. We really enjoyed the meals The hotel provided a free night tour to the vines bridge and Biwa waterfall . There was a light drizzle and the driver handed out umbrellas to all the guests on the tour. He also made sure to shelter us from the drizzle when we alighted from the bus upon arrival back at the hotel. The hotel has a mini cable car which takes guests to the open air onsen which was an interesting experience. Quality of the spring water was also very good. We felt refreshed after visiting the onsen.
Points négatifs: Nothing that we can think of.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: 1. Osen (many options and very comfortable) - especially love the osen at the top of the hill which had a very nice view and the osen in my room which allowed privacy 2. A comfy and large room with massage chair 3. excellent service provided by welcoming and helpful staff. no problem in communication at all (english) 4. night tour which marked my night!!! 5. dinner with delicious local and traditional dishes; and the extra sake we bought which was awesome too 6. a very full and healthy breakfast with local fish
Points négatifs: 1. the in-room hair dryer - not strong enough 2. Would be great if there were more pieces of premium steak given the premium room we purchased 3. A bit disappointed as the hotel promised to decorate the room for bday celebration of my guest but there’s no declaration when i arrived - although this is something extra
9,2 Excellent
Points positifs: One of the best onsen I have stayed throughout my multiple visits to Japan. Definitely have to check in earlier as possible to enjoy the hotspring with the view! Special kudos to the 2 male waiters that served us dinner and breakfast! Both meals were very enjoyable and delicious! It’s also very nearby to the kazurabashi bridge.

Points positifs: Exceptionnel !!!
8,3 Excellent
Points positifs: Obviously the location is great. The outdoor bath is quite spectacular. Quite expensive for a solo traveller.
Points négatifs: It was cold when i was there and I struggled to warm up the room. This is unfortunately often the case in old houses.
2,5 Médiocre
Points négatifs: Disgusting dinner. We opted for the Japanese style option but nothing could be further away from traditional Japanese cuisine. The meat (both pork and chicken) was tasteless. The food in the cheap restaurant 6km down the road was much better without any of the surrounding fuss. We happened to be sitted not far away from the ‘kitchen’. We noticed that all the dishes were frozen or in the fridge, they were just pre-heated before being served. There was no real-time cooking whatsoever. Seeing more foreigners in the dinner room (which looked more like a school canteen) was another bad sign. I have been going on holidays in Japan for many years, after eating in the restaurant of the hotel it was the first time ever I got a diarrhea. It was also the first time ever I did not feel as I was in Japan but more stuck in a tourist trap. Other disappointing features of the hotel: - One has to pay for private access to the onsen, in other hotels of similar rank that is included in the package - No tissues in the room - the cablecar is the last authentic bit of the place, just take it to access the onsen, don’t bother staying in the hotel - hotel placed on the road, the parking nearby can get can busy very early in morning. - the noise of the air-conditioning machines during the night is significant. In a summary this place is very poor value for money.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: I had a perfect stay in Iya. The staffs are really nice and helpful. The Onsen experience was good, the cable car is fun.
Points négatifs: I would recommend rent a car to get there. The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Although the bus station outside the hotel however the schedule is not frequent.
10,0 Excellent
7,1 Bien
Points positifs: The location of the onsen.
Points négatifs: The quality of the food and the overall experience does not meet our expectations of a 4-star hotel for this price.
6,3 Bien
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Beautiful location. Half hour drive by free shuttle bus from JR station. Also included a free night drive to see vine bridge and waterfall. Dinner was delicious. Indulged in private bath. Accommodation is getting a little tired but it is in a beautiful location and very clean.

Points positifs: The fact that it's secluded, the dinner, and the onsen. Staff were helpful
Points négatifs: small room, and expensive.

Points positifs: It is a very traditional hot spring hotel, not a big one so that you don’ t feel very crowd and noisy during the date. Staffs are all helpful and food that included in the rooms rate are so tasty! They used local vegetables and meat, everything is so fresh! Hot spring is really good, the outdoor pool are lovely!! Rooms are big and we have a great time! Close to attractions in that area.
Points négatifs: They only accept cash for hotel fee so be prepare for that. We drive to the hotel and the room is a bit narrow and hilly, please drive safe

Points positifs: The location was excellent. A complimentary pick up from the local station and a site on the river. The staff were wonderful and couldn’t be more accommodating. Huge smiles all round. The Onsen was very relaxing with views over the gorge. Japanese robes were provided and they were quite happy for these to be worn for dinner. Our Japanese dinner was much more than we expected. The food was excellent and so beautifully presented but again the staff made the occasion
Points négatifs: We struggled with the Japanese breakfast. Again it was beautifully presented but there was so much food. Rice for breakfast is something we can’t get used to. A fault of ours not of the hotel. Great coffee though

Points positifs: The hotel very close to the boat point, and they have really good service to every guests, not only pick you up from the JR station and send you to the station when you check-out, and also will recommend you the good route of this place. They are very friendly to all the guests from different nation, they prepare our nation's flag every where to welcome us, and the most amazing things is when they prepare the bed-ware for you they even put a hot water bag inside of your quilt!!!!!!!! That's the only thing my grandma will do for me! OMG, so sweet! Absolutely recommend this hotel for your trip.

Points positifs: Outstanding service for providing free transport between Oboke Station and the hotel. This facilitated us much as our family did not drive and had to travel to and from Oboke by JR.
Points négatifs: The public hot bath closed at 12:00 midnight. It will be great if it opens until 1:00 am or 2:00 am.
