Points positifs: The bed extra comfort
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: This hotel is perfect for your mountain getaway. Surrounded by nature, you can hear birds chirping or see a wild deer (if you are lucky). I would recommend this hotel for those who want to get away from hectic city life. The service and facilities were excellent. I traveled with a 4-year-old toddler, this hotel has a playground filled with toys and story books to keep the kiddos busy. The room was spacious and clean. The highlight of my stay was the hot swimming pool, my family and I really enjoyed it. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely come back again in the future.
Points négatifs: There were no vending machines or convenient stores nearby. For those who plan to stay at this hotel, do not forget to purchase some snacks or drinks near Shuzenji Station.

Points positifs: Outdoor hot tub. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Secluded location. View of Fuji-san. Furnishings and decoration were modern.
Points négatifs: Very expensive. Missing little touches like a shoehorn in room. Nothing in fridge such as water.

Points positifs: The room was magnificent and comfortable. The private onsen on the balcony was wonderful. English speaking staff made things a lot easier for me. The front desk was able to help me make a transportation and dinner reservation at the partnered Marriott Hotel near by, the Wagyu steak was the best steak I have ever had!
Points négatifs: I stayed in mid March and while I was driving up to the property it had a feeling of being abandoned and run down. There are many buildings scattered throughout the vast landscape and the posted signed did not direct a driver clearly to the building for check in. The immediate location is bound to the hotel and club grounds anything outside of that required transportation about 15 minutes away to the nearest convenient store. No bars or lounges at the hotel were open and the only option for dinner was at the Marriott hotel about 4 min drive away. I do have to say I completely enjoyed my room and the dinner was great! Negatives aside, I would stay here again.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Fantastic open-air bath on the balcony and it’s Mt.Fuji view. The surroundings were deadly quiet, so you can have a perfect relaxing time. Every room was new and clean and very cozy. I’ll definitely visit again.
Points négatifs: Breakfast was not much value
9,2 Excellent
9,6 Excellent
Points positifs: The hot private spa is very nice. Room is clean , bed is comfortable.
Points négatifs: Breakfast can be better and offer more variety of choices.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Love everything about the place. Nice in house hot spring. Super friendly staff. Decent Japanese dinner and buffet breakfast.
Points négatifs: A tiny issue about direction. The property is huge, we were not sure where’s the right building to check it.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Love this place so much!
9,0 Excellent
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The room with a bathtub on the terrace and a mountains view was as perfect as you can get, but above all else, the staff of the restaurant and of the front desk was what made this trip special. I have asked them in advance about the possibility of getting a vegetarian dinner course and they made all the effort to satisfy our needs. Also they did pay attention to the fact that it was a birthday of one of us and we got an extra glass of sparkling wine. I recommend this property strongly! I will surely go there again. Great place, great nature and great people. I had quite high expectations before going there but the actual experience was even better!

9,0 Excellent
Points positifs: As a historical ryokan with national registered cultural assets, Arai Ryokan provided us with an exceptional onsen experience in a traditional Japanese atmosphere. The architecture itself is a highlight with delicate garden views. The staff were very friendly and the meals served with seasonal food were superb. The ryokan is located in the center of Shuzenji Onsen town, close to several tourist attractions where you could explore the rich history of Shuzenji area.
9,2 Excellent
9,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The breakfast was delicious! The hot springs are comfortable. The staff and service of the hotel are perfect.
Points négatifs: It's a pity that when we were booking on the website, we can't be sure what type of room living in. The pictures and description of the room read from the booking.com website are rough.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The room, ambience, baths (indoors and outside) personal in-room kaiseki meal service, staff, and fantastic walking right out the door make this an absolute favorite in all my travels in Japan. Old world charm, a world away, with a long history of visiting artists. Walked two different 15km loops each day, came home to soak and eat like royalty, with the stream running below my window. Plus wasabi ice cream cones are sold along the street !! Orchards, Temples.. look no further. With Gratitude.

10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Inner garden and ponds, all traditional wood and paper construction, with small bridges and passages. The bath facilities are great and the level of service is high.
Points négatifs: The main chamber had good heating, but the traditional construction meant that it's a bit cold. Nothing a good dip in hot water doesn't solve, though.
9,0 Excellent

Points négatifs: Outside Bath wasn't available for women in the morning.

Points positifs: The considered design, care and hospitality of the staff, and world-class food made for a one-of-a-kind experience that should be on everyone's travel list. This place is special like no other hotel or ryokan you'll find. Be prepared to go back in time, slowly and thoughtfully, in a place outside of history.
Points négatifs: It was perfect.
8,8 Excellent
Points positifs: Onsen, food
Points négatifs: Limited Onsen time for the ladies. Also, Onsen time for the ladies were during the evening or late in the evening- never during daytime so it was mostly ‘grey’ Versus the men which is during the day.

10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Magnificent view, very nice facilities and a marvellous onsen.
7,1 Bien
Points positifs: They have a very nice family hot bath available for guest
Points négatifs: The hotel is quite old
6,3 Bien
8,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Very quiet location with breathtaking views. Nice shores at walking distance from the hotel. You have to try the private onsen with with on the ocean!
Points négatifs: Not much to say. There was probably no main renovation to the hotel in a few years, like many similar hotels in Japan, but that is no problem at all.
9,6 Excellent
Points positifs: Seiryu is a thoroughbred Japanese style ryōkan, including all the bells and whistles such as tatami mats and futon bedding, an onsen with a view to die for and amazing views from all rooms and the restaurant. Staff are very welcoming and some of them speak English, Chinese or Korean. The food is fabulous. Beautiful Japanese style breakfast with grilled fish, lots of small dishes and green tea. Dinners are even better with a variety of local fishes, miso soup, tsukemomo and rice.
8,0 Excellent
Points positifs: We booked sea view Japanese style room including Dinner and Breakfast and we like it very much. We enjoy experienced Japanese way there. Meals are very good. Bed futon are warm and cozy. The things that I like most is outdoor onsen.
Points négatifs: The hotel is old. I smell the rug even the staff try so hard to clean it.

10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Very nice onsen, private and public! Nice surroundings! Sounds of river gushing is so relaxing.
Points négatifs: No wifi in the room nor free coffee in the room or lobby.
7,5 Bien
Points négatifs: The price for this period of time is very overpriced. A bit disappointment for the value of money after checking the regular prices
10,0 Excellent
8,3 Excellent
Points positifs: This ryokan offers amazing outdoor onsen. Apart from the public bath, they also have several private baths that have super nice view and setting. I highly recommend to take your time and enjoy their baths. The ryokan also offer a very nice atmosphere (a nostalgic one) and the staff are extremely nice.
Points négatifs: Some of the rooms in the old building are super old (the ryokan was built in the 1960s) and the facilities in such rooms are not that great. There is no restaurants or supermarkets around the ryokan, so you would have to either eat at the facility or find food in another area before going back to the place. Moreover, it is really hard to go to the place without a private car.
9,0 Excellent
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Great service. We were picked up from the Yugashima bus stop in quick time upon arrival when we rang. It was raining heavily when we arrived. The private onsen is superb if you are not used to be stark naked in front of other bathers. Breakfast is superb but purely oriental. Only gripe is no coffee during breakfast and wifi only available on lobby floor. Otherwise a great spot next to a beautiful fast flowing river.
Points négatifs: Wifi available only on lobby floor. Minor gripe.
6,0 Bien
Points positifs: The location is far from bus stop so go by private drive will be much better.
7,1 Bien

9,6 Excellent
Points positifs: Quaint and peaceful. Wonderful landscape. Love the sounds of water and nature.
Points négatifs: None so far. I did expect the place to be quiet.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The staff were courteous. Most spoke English well enough to explain the services and the food. I did have to use Google Translate with the reception staff at one point, but that was fine. The suites were built in the 1940s, although the bathrooms and fixtures have been renovated for modern standards. They've maintained the older Japanese architecture, including the sliding doors and wooden floors under tatami. The atmosphere of the ryokan buildings and the gardens is amazing, it really feels like traditional Japan. The second floor suite had a great view of the Japanese garden on side and an amazing view of the city on the other side. The dinner and breakfast kaiseki was great, delicious and filling. The presentation of each dish was beautiful. Dinner was served in the dining hall, but you have a private booth to yourself. There are two public onsen, and they switch between male/female usage everyday. The hot spring water is at 40C, and it was a great experience enjoying the bath in cooler November weather.
Points négatifs: Location. The ryokan runs a shuttle between the ryokan and Izu Nagaoka train station, but the reservation times are limited. I don't know if you can arrange for a shuttle outside of the reservation slots. Wifi did not work at the second floor suite.
7,9 Bien

Points positifs: All you can imagine about japanese tradition. Tipical garden, tipical room, tipical onsen.
Points négatifs: Nobody speak english. I found an insects infestation near my bed before get to sleep, but there was nobody to the reception. In general the structure is very clean, so I Think it was an isolate case.
9,2 Excellent
Points positifs: Qualité irréprochable du service. Jardin magnifique et repas fabuleux ! The quintessence of the Japanese irreproachable quality of service. Fabulous dinner & breakfast, splendid garden !
9,6 Excellent
Points positifs: Friendly staff. Very nice onsen. The dinner is well worth it.
Points négatifs: A bit out of the way but that’s kind of expected.
8,3 Excellent
Points positifs: The staff are nice and helpful
Points négatifs: Taking into account of the price charged, the dinner can be improved
9,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Good meal and friendly staff. Equipped with private onsen bath room (quite tiny bath tooth but it's ok). The garden is beautiful.
Points négatifs: The shuttle bus will not wait at the stop unless you book one in advance. The traffic from train stop to the hotel is a little bit confusing.
10,0 Excellent

7,0 Bien
Points positifs: Loved the room and the private Onsen. The view was exceptional. Their breakfast was very good.
Points négatifs: Their checkout time is 10am which is two hours before most places. Check is at 3pm. I was really upset when they told me. We paid $430 for one night. They had no provisions for late check-out either. The meal plan for dinner + breakfast was another $300. The quality of food for dinner was not worth it. Felt like they just tried to compensate by increasing the portions.

7,1 Bien
Points positifs: the staff are nice the, view is good if you want to have peace of mind then, the place is good
Points négatifs: well, the breakfast they need to expand it more its not that good...but the staff are nice,
9,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The staffs there tried their best to speak English even though their words are very limited. The dinner was beyond my expectation, the sashimi was very good, and the crab too. The room I stayed has the private hot spring bath facing the forest and river. The public bath was nice too, they have the cave hot spring. Overall it is very good price with the whole package I mentioned above, it only costed me around 185usd
Points négatifs: Hmmm the location is a bit further down from Izu city Center, but if u want to further explore the west coast and south coast area, it really doesn’t matter particularly if you drive there.
3,3 Médiocre
Points positifs: I liked that the ryokan is next to a river,,, However You can’t really see the the river from the room unless You’re standing next to the window:( The river view was the main reason I choose this place from the photos on Booking.com
Points négatifs: 1# The 3,250¥ per person for the dinner was a big disappointment Other than the soups everything else that supposed to be hot was cold room temperature Mainly cheap or inexpensive food varieties. Soft drink bar wasn’t better either. I didn’t even bother to order any alcoholic beverages 2# Flat screen tv if You can just enjoy Japanese tv no other options. 3# The parking One side of the car will be next to the fence or the wall so not all passengers can exit at the same time (or MENDOXAI as they say in Japanese) 4# The price may seem cheap at first but after You ad the onsen charge taxes meals and perhaps the private onsen You’ll end up paying quite a bit for what is not worth in My opinion!!! Our room didn’t have bathtub or shower whatsoever I don’t know if all the rooms or some rooms don’t have one
8,3 Excellent
Points positifs: The room was newly refurbished with extremely comfortable beds. Waking up to the rush of the river and beautiful scenery is also a huge plus. There was an excellent staff by the name of Mr Wang who helped us with some issues when we got into a minor accident. Was definitely a good stay!
Points négatifs: Our initial booking indicated that there was a bathroom in the room - which we found out actually meant it was a public bath upon arrival. The booking website should state clearer as we would've only booked if it was a private bath/shower. We were lucky as it was down season and got upgraded to one with a private shower. Please also note that there are no English speaking staff in the hotel!
7,5 Bien
Points positifs: The room was spacious and authentically decorated. There are numerous hot springs to choose from if you don't like the temp or atmosphere of one, there are at least 3 others to try. My favorite was the cave. There's also a lot of sites to see in the area and the rural town is very peaceful. There is a beer, ramen, and milk vending machine near the springs.
Points négatifs: It wasn't entirely foreigner friendly. We like to use public transport and found this place hard to get to with large bags and no car. Had to take the bus and then walk down a large hill (and back up on our way out..). Also, staff isn't entirely fluent of English, though I can forgive them for that. Dinner is a separate fee and restaurants close early in the area (also, few options in walking distance).

9,6 Excellent
8,0 Excellent
Points positifs: The environment is very good with comfort bed, clean room and wonderful breakfast. The 足湯 is my favorite part of this journey.
Points négatifs: I want to have wifi in my room, which was the only pity. And I have expected larger and more types of onsen rather than just two or three pool.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Dinner and breakfast both excellent
7,5 Bien
Points positifs: It was very easy to access, with the Bus stop right in front of the Hotel, also the roof top Onsen was amazing as you can see the Sunset :)
Points négatifs: In my room the Floorboard on the Balcony was broken and just covered with a piece of wood. But what was really annoying was that the staff gave me the wrong information about the Bus timetable and because of this I almost missed my connection back to Tokyo...
4,2 Correct
Points positifs: You can toast marshmallows in the foyer while soaking your feet in a foot spa, that's really nice but doesn't make up for the rest. The bus stops right outside which is convenient too.p
Points négatifs: Do not book!!! We treated ourselves and booked the most expensive room with a sea view and private Onsen- went to Toi especially for this accomodation to celebrate our honeymoon after staying in very basic accomodation for the rest of the trip. When got into the room the view was of the back of another building and some power lines, with nearby apartments looking directly into our room, there was a weird smell, the bathroom was awful and the room was missing many of the amenities that were listed & photographed on booking.com e.g. No outdoor seating on deck, poor lighting, TINY bathroom, no wifi, bar only sells beer and closes at 10pm, pool table closed for private function etc. When I complained the staff were very nice and polite but ineffective- they apologied but explained they were fully booked and there was nothing they could do about the fact they had misrepresented the room. They did offer to let us pay ¥2000 to use the private Onsen, and then agreed to let us use it for free after I made the suggestion. Very poor experience, would not recommend.

Points positifs: nice breakfast and good service
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Yutorelo was a prime example of relaxation, comfort and great escape. The rooms were spacious, the beds were extremely comfortable and the added bonus of the balcony onsen made it a match made in heaven. The staff were really helpful, carefully providing us instructions and helping us make our stay enjoyable and memorable. Food was sublime and the experience all together was excellent. Will look forward to return again one day.
9,5 Excellent
Points positifs: very roomy, nice beds. nice colourful bathing cloths for self selection is good idea and i like it much. reception and restaurant staff are very polite and friendly with smile. very nice traditional dinner cuisine and they did grill fish in front of every tables. my friends and I did enjoy staying here and we will like to visit this hotel again.
Points négatifs: nothing at all.

8,8 Excellent
Points positifs: Hotel is surrounded with a great nature. Free shuttle from the station, friendly staff, many games like pingpong, darts and even sega. Hotel has some surprises: they turned off light at dinner time and gave us desserts with candles. Also they have a game with chopsticks where you can win free night.
Points négatifs: Humidity in the room. Only 1 man from staff knows English and he was really helpful. It might be difficult to stay without his help.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: very friendly staff, they do all to make you return. bedding is comfortable and relaxing, food is delicious. many outdoor activities, it is the best place to go with children. on the other hand, numerous private baths, a cute library, a quiet beautiful garden make this place perfect for one-aloner.
8,3 Excellent
Points positifs: Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good service provided.
Points négatifs: I did not realise it's a Balinese style hotel when I book it, it was not what I expected cause the website did not say it. I prefer traditional Japanese onsen.

Points positifs: This hotel is very run down and doesn’t look anything like the website. I would pay about $120 per night to stay there, but they charge over $700 per room. That is insanity. I will save the Hot Springs are nice, but everything else was a total catastrophe. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I will never go back there. PS this is the first review I’ve ever written about a hotel my experience was that Memorable.
8,8 Excellent
7,1 Bien
Points positifs: Fantastic building with great food.
Points négatifs: Virtually no one speaks English.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: I loved everything about this place! The public baths were wonderful and scenic (i watched mist rise from the mountains in the morning as i soaked in a giant stone tub). The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was local, traditional and very tasty. The staff were also super friendly and helpful, they even drove us to a local attraction in the morning. Yeah, it was far, but i consider it a benefit as you are surrounded by nature. Highly recommend for a romantic weekend!

Points positifs: The private hot spring was was fantastic. The staff looked after us like a family.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Everything was perfect. The hosts are very welcoming; although they do not speak English, you always end up understanding their advice or explanations. The room was huge and surprisingly, the futons very comfy, we slept like babies. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing. You may enjoy also the public onsens and the private one, which is fabulous. The breakfast is Japanese only, but very good and generous. A lot of great restaurants are in the nearby. I really recommend this place, everything was perfect, thank you for this amazing experience.
Points négatifs: Nothing at all.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Super big tatami room. Great price for value. Mt Fuji view. Very nice owners. Big private baths for 40 mins for free. Massage chairs in communal area.
Points négatifs: Absolutely nothing

Points positifs: Great onsen. Rooms are super clean and the staff are amazing . On arrival they come out and greeted us in the carpark..and did the same when we left ...attention to detail , very little english , but with a translations app and a few hand moments we had everything we wanted plus more ....highly recommended
Points négatifs: Everything was perfect
7,0 Bien
Points positifs: Kameya Ean was conveniently located opposite the Panorama Park and have some restaurants nearby. As we didn't want to drive after dark, the Owner offered to give us a ride to some nearby recommended restaurants, so as to save the trouble of miscommunication due to our difference in languages; which was a great relief to us as we were already starving for some time. Kameya Ean also allocated specific onsen time-slot for their guests so that you won't run into a big crowd. As a result, we got the pools to ourselves as we were a group of 4, which we could enjoy the privacy and spaciousness.
9,6 Excellent

9,6 Excellent
Points positifs: Everything. Especially that even the Sora does not offer me the choice of non smoking room, my room is absolute no odor from smoking. It is a big big plus to me. Inside out, the Sora is very clean, quite and comfort. The garden is not big but very peaceful and elegant. The major attractions at Shuzenji Onsen are at walking distance from Sora. The meals was great. I stayed for 2 nights and I loved the 2nd night dinner the most. The dinning area is setup very nice, quite and private.
Points négatifs: The Sora should consider offering the shuttle service to non driving guests. Even just a shuttle service to/from the nearby bus terminal will be a big plus. To access Sora without driving nor taking taxi, you walk from Shuzenji Onsen bus terminal for less than 10 minutes but last part to get to Sora is a short uphill. It is not to steep, but if you have luggage then take a taxi from Shuzenji train station. The taxi cost you less than 1500 yen.
