Points négatifs : Car was 1/2 full but we called customer service right away and was able to bring it back half full without penalty.
Points positifs : Easy pickup and drop-off.
Points négatifs : Car smelled like an ashtray. Guy at counter added $100 insurance coverage to our rental without asking first.
Points positifs : We were the only people in line, she had us wait for at least ten minutes while she did paperwork. Finally another gentleman came out and helped us. The car smelled so badly of cigarette smoke, if we weren't so tired from a long day of travel we would have returned the car. One day rental!!
Points positifs : There never seems to be a line at MCO for Payless. That's nice!
Points négatifs : The agents aren't very friendly at the desk and don't really seem to care, but everything worked out fine.
Points positifs : Everything was perfect and affordable and easy.
Points négatifs : Nothing. Pretty solid experience.

Points négatifs : The car rental was horrible! We didnt receive the car we booked and ended up with a very old van that had a remote key that did not work. We had to mannually lock the car every time we stopped somewhere. Spent money on a trashy car horrible never again!

Points négatifs : They did not have a car for us. We waited two hours and then paid more than double for a car from a small rental company. Payless could not have cared less. They said it happens all the time they always over book. It was a terrible experience.

Points positifs : Car was fine, clean etc.
Points négatifs : Arrival at airport: checked in to rent. They told me I didn't rent from the airport, I rented from a satellite location. Took a $65 taxi ride to this satellite location and guess what? They're closed. Took $35 Uber ride BACK to airport, where we were informed that it would be over $700 (TWICE the reservation amount) to get a car from the airport because I didn't rent from there. "So.. you're going to gouge me for renting here when the location I rented from isn't OPEN?" Yes. Thank god I have a really patient husband. After spending FOUR HOURS in this process, over $100 on rides around town with two grouchy children in tow, we were finally given the keys to our car at the rate we were given upfront. I swear, I don't know how these places stay in business. Renting a car is ALWAYS the worst part of my travel experience. Always. We've signed up for a business account with Hertz in the hopes that sticking with one place and having an account with them will relieve this stress. It is NOT worth saving $100 to lose FOUR HOURS of your vacation (and money to ride around town chasing a rental car!)
A Really Bad First Time Experience with Payless
Points positifs : The Chevy Tahoe was comfortable and easy to drive.
Points négatifs : There was only one counter agent working when I went to pick up my vehicle. He was working with a customer and there was some sort of problem as I waited for almost an hour. Then, they didn't have the vehicle I reserved and I had to wait an additional 15 minutes until they found something for me. It appears they gave me an Avis or Budget vehicle. It did not have enough space for all our luggage and passengers so we had to rent another vehicle from one of their competitors. I did not receive a reduced rate for a lower class of vehicle nor was I given a refund.
Points négatifs : I extended the rental agreement, but instead of charging me my daily rate on the contract, they tripled it and charged me that instead. I filed a complaint ticket yet management is unwilling to fix the problem. Basically they ripped me off.
Poorly trained staff can cause a cascade of problems
Points positifs : Nice car, clean. The agent at the return desk was accommodating, prepared and well trained and able to help with some of the problems caused by the initial agent at pick up.
Points négatifs : Because there was an error at pickup, it caused a host of problems that ended up costing me $158 more than the price agreed upon with Kayak. Trying to rectify this problem has caused a whole new set of problems with customer service, who seem unconcerned by my problem.
Points positifs : I liked the fact that I was able to get my car at the airport
Points négatifs : I guess I didn’t like I had to pay an additional amount when I found out I had rented my car from someplace away from the airport which was my mistake when I rented the car
