8,0 Excellent
Points positifs: We were there to attend a wedding and the location was great! The beach is very nice if you go away from the area with seaweeds. The rooms are very nice, modern and spacious with jacuzzis and double sinks in the bathrooms. Overall the facilities are nice, the staff is friendly and we had well-coordinated wedding events. Coco Cafe is great, delicious desserts and much better coffee there than in the room or room service! The bar staff works very hard to keep up with the demand for the free cocktails! The spa was nice too and have many coupons and special deals that make it worth it. Non-motorized sports are included which is nice.
Points négatifs: While rooms are spacious, the lighting in the closet area needs updating especially since the in-room coffee maker is in a barely lit closet. We also lost power for a couple of hours on one day. Room service was consistently late by 15 minutes or so. One day, breakfast room service was delayed due to an issue in the kitchen. Dining experiences in the Mediterranean and Mexican restaurants were really sub-par. Both served cold food. In Cin Cin, grilled salmon came half cold, half warm and the vegetarian dishes ordered by some members of our party were completely cold. In the Mexican restaurant, the fajitas had no sizzle at all, veggie enchiladas were served cold, and when we pointed that out, they were substituted with hot chicken enchiladas, which did not sit well at all with the vegetarians in the party. All in all, the restaurants need a lot of work. In addition to that, we were disappointed that the water sports desk had no fixed time for opening. One morning, we wanted to go kayaking, and the opening time for the desk kept shifting from 9:30AM->10AM->10:30AM. We finally gave up waiting for the desk to be staffed as we had to check out and leave for the airport.

Points positifs: Property was undergoing MAJOR construction and renovation when we arrived. I was not expecting to be ambushed with sales pitches the entire time either. They hounded us multiple times to come to their informational presentation so that we could learn about their other properties and the VIP area of the resort. To be honest, that area was not much better than the rest of the property, and the guest staying there still had to eat at the same restaurants and got the same food as the rest of us. It made no sense to pay more for the same mediocre quality services.
Points négatifs: Food was not impressive. The restaurants showed potential for some good cuisine, but most of the portions were too small or were just not good. The room service menu was disappointing, and the delivery took about 1 hour for each order. The room was also not the cleanest and being in the "tropical" room meant you had a view of power lines and a forest/swamp area in the back of the resort, which also smelled like sewage. I was not nearly as relaxed as I should have been.
9,4 Excellent
Points positifs: The pool bar service staff (Polo or Marco) was excellent. The other staff was just OK ... but he made it work for us. Rooms Good. Food Good (Hamburgers GREAT), Pool Good. Wedding coordination seemed to go well for everyone. I like the Hotel Zone but this was a good alternative for us.
Points négatifs: Beach was just OK but it works. Cleaning the Room seemed to be upon a call to Housekeeping. Location is OK - but improves if you visit Puerto Morales (FUN PLACE).
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: We had our wedding there... it was amazing! Everyone was extremely accomodating. The resort itself is very modern for a place in Cancun with nice bathrooms and more air conditioned areas than most. The food was actually quite good for an all inclusive, something that is rare (usually the all inclusives are quite bland).

Points négatifs: Vraiment bien si les restaurants avaient la climatisation, nous étions très inconfortables pour le dîner. Mais nous étions là-bas pendant une semaine de forte chaleur.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Gorgeous location and friendly staff. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an all inclusive Riviera Maya Family Resort in this price range.
9,4 Excellent
Points positifs: The pool and grounds are beautiful with attention to small details that make the difference. The staff was always attentive and responsive. The preferred club provided a nice air conditioned location for our family to congregate. Buffet was ok and the sit-down restaurants were good to very good.
Points négatifs: The buffet and Mexican restaurants can be sweltering hot. We had some mosquito problems in our room. This year there is a terrible seaweed problem all up and down the coast making the beaches undesirable.

Points positifs: It was a clean and comfortable resort. Very relaxing. The pool and spa were fantastic. The excursion guy was able to upgrade us to vip for Cirque du Soleil (it’s at another resort). The staff was overall friendly, even though service was pretty slow at the pool.
Points négatifs: For a wellness resort, their gym was not impressive. The food was mediocre, the chicken usually too dry and the steak super thin. Multiple times I told them I don eat bread, rice or potatoes, and they still put it on my plate. Not all restaurants were open daily. There wasn’t any excitement on the resort like live music and dancing at night. The beach had a nasty smell of seaweed which lingered in the room. When I was checking out the concierge was trying to charge me for the room even though I already paid. I had to argue with him and eventually show him my bank statement.
9,1 Excellent
Points positifs: This is a beautiful, quiet resort that felt very luxurious and peaceful. It was only a short (20 minute) ride from the airport. The service staff were incredible, always helpful, smiling and seemed to be having a good time themselves. Tips weren't expected at all, but bring some, they deserve it! The complimentary "sunset" cruise was fun and a good way to get away for a while and see the area. The food choices were varied for just having a few restaurants, and each had a unique vibe, great food and a view. There was never a wait for any restaurants, but we ate earlier than most. The room was enormous and unique. Honestly, everything looks like the photos, which is pretty rare. :)
Points négatifs: After an amazing shuttle ride, we were dropped off in the check-in office, we sat there without a greeting or any acknowledgement for a long time. (Some guests ahead of us were having trouble checking in) Problems happen, that's totally understandable, but a simple "Sorry for the wait, go hang outside with a drink and we'll get you when we figure this out" would have saved some frustration. A couple days in, we got a phone call saying we had a "Welcome Package" to pick up... cool! No, no... it was a sales pitch telling us how we basically stayed at the wrong resort for our age group, how we could have received a discount on massages (had she not been off work the day before), and that we should really go tour other resorts (and listen to more sales information). It just felt very slimy for such a high end resort, so... If you get that call, decline, but beware they may find you on the beach or around the resort.

9,7 Excellent
Points positifs: Let's start with the food-- It was uniformly phenomenal at every restaurant we tried (Kibbeh, Picante, Silk City, The Strip, Bites, Spoon). Top shelf liquors and well made cocktails kept everyone in high spirits (seriously... try to get a well-made Manhattan at any other Mexican AI property. Good luck.) Just one restriction that we ran into: No shots in the Xcelerate pool, but that's probably a good idea. Our suite in the Xhale (VIP) area was quite modern and very well appointed. Everything (with one exception) was in excellent shape and housekeeping services were prompt and thorough. We were at Breathless for my buddy's bachelor party and the party package we ordered ($125 a head) was totally worth it. Bottles of tequila, a photo shoot, a private cigar rolling, a late night party in the room, table service at the club, a specially decorated daybed by the pool... it all added up to a very special experience. Overall, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The place is pretty new, so you'd expect things to be clean and they are. The raised walkways throughout the property and the tasteful use of accent lighting really makes you feel like you're in the middle of an ultra modern estate. All of the restaurants and lounges are beautifully decorated, too. A lot of thought went into the design of this stunning property. The thing that really makes Breathless Riviera Cancun stand out, though, is the people. The entire staff from top to bottom are friendly and accommodating. The worst I personally experienced was a bartender or two who was somewhat indifferent. No one was unusually sour or gave off a begrudging attitude like you find at a lot of AIs (especially in the Caribbean islands). Just keep a steady flow of small tips ($1 here... $3 there... $20 for super special favors) coming and you'll be treated very very well. Extra huge thanks to... JC at Wink-- The best bar server I have ever met in my whole life! Thanks for hooking it up time after time and for helping us recreate our 18-year-old bro trip photo. :D Ericka at Picante-- For playing mom to a bunch of overgrown misfits as you served us the best Mexican meal we ever ate. Ivette Hernandez-- For personally seeing to it that all of our requests were handled quickly and thoroughly. It was a true pleasure meeting you! Bottom line: I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Breathless Riviera Cancun to anyone I know... and I already have many times. Keep up the great work!
Points négatifs: Just a few things to mention-- all of them minor: - Our in-room tablet (how you check the activities, make reservations, order room service, etc.) in one of the suites didn't work upon arrival. Something was wrong with the charging base. A little tinkering and it was fine. - While the property is totally appropriate for anyone traveling without kids, it does cater primarily to couples. As such, the beautiful rain showers in the suites are in a glass box right in the middle of the room-- ostensibly so you can see how smoking hot your new husband/wife is as they bathe-- and the "privacy curtain" basically just separates the shower from the bed area. Anyone accessing the sinks, toilet, closet, minibar, coffeemaker or walking in the front door (GASP!) has a front row seat. The management might consider having those curtains go around the entire shower enclosure. - Room service was uniformly slow. Every time. Tasty, though! - I scheduled our private photo shoot for 7pm on our last day. The photo desk called to ask if we could move it up to 6. I obliged. When we showed up, the photographer power-walked us to the beach, snapped exactly two photos and skedaddled. When I asked if we could take just a few more, she said simply "No. This is enough." Oooooo kaaaaay.

Points négatifs: -Beach was not the best since there is a lot of seaweed, however it seems to be a general problem y all riviera maya and royalton staff is constantly cleaning it.

Points négatifs: Waiters waiting for tips and getting mad if they did not get one. High pressure selling of the diamond club.

Points positifs: We decided to stay at the adults only section of the hotel which was amazing! Our room was ocean front with a balcony and a hot tub on it! The view was amazing! Our room was huge and clean. We had the same staff in and out of our room while we were there for 6 days/5 nights so we were able to get to know them. Alonzo and Margarita were great at keeping the rooms clean and having the beds turned back for us. We had upgraded to the diamond club before we got there and I would definitely do that again! Our butlers Dominquez and Reuben were Amazing!! To help celebrate our 20th anniversary they decorated our room with rose petals and confetti and had the hot tub ready to go for us. When we came back to our room that night there was a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us. They went above and beyond! They always were checking to see if there was anything else we needed. The food was pretty good and even though we had reservations I don't think we would have waited too long at any of the restaurants. The beach was beautiful! It did have a lot of seaweed but they did try hard to keep it clean but there's only so much they can do. The resort had shows every night and we watched most of them and really enjoyed the variety. The Diva's International were good and the Set the night on fire show was amazing! I would recommend this resort and do plan on going back!

Points positifs: Beautiful Resort Nice rooms, amenities Great food and drinks On the beach Away from the commotion of Cancun Great Tennis coach. Strangely, the hotel did not publicize the availability of personal tennis lessons. Nice Gym. Unfortunately, the gym/hotel did not sell any protein drinks or powders.
Points négatifs: At the end of the trip I learned my mosquito bites were bed bug bites, which means I will have to toss my luggage. Butler service was pointless. I could never reach them and they were of no help on check out. The central pool area was being renovated morning till evening for 3 days of the trip. Thankfully I stayed in the Diamond Club and had access to other smaller pools. The tipping situation feels awkward. I'm not sure how to better handle it though. In early the December the beach is so-so since there still was a fair amount of sea grass. The beaches down south were a lot "cleaner" and the water was clearer.
9,7 Excellent
Points positifs: Loved the spa, the room, the food. It was my husband's birthday, and they did so many things to make him feel extra special. He said it was one of his most memorable birthdays. They really went above and beyond. We lov d our spa services from Erika and Joselyn.
Points négatifs: I didn't like the Timeshare presentation. It ran too long. Truthfully, it ruined my morning. ..we were hoping for bluer ocean.

6,0 Bien
Points positifs: Grounds during the evening are beautiful.
Points négatifs: In desperate need of a major renovation. The check in process is soley designed to get you to buy their upgrades and services so instead of having a quick check in; it is dragged on to over 30 minutes and then they pass you onto another person that tries to have you sign on to view their nearby upscale property; without disclosing that they will try to sell you HARD to join their vacation club.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: Great staff always smiling and very attentive. Room was beautiful, food was good as well. Drinks are pretty weak but we figured out a trick. If you order a pina colada, etc just ask for a shot on the side then pour it in the drink.
Points négatifs: Paying for an all-inclusive resort you expect everything to be all inclusive. Having the staff ask you to upgrade your room, or upgrade for a bottle of wine is unnecessary. Just be prepared to say no multiple times.
10,0 Excellent
Points positifs: We just returned from a 10 day stay at Secrets Silversands and it was everything we hoped it would be and more. We had a total of 46 people there for the first half of the trip and we stayed the second half alone for our honeymoon. Everyone in our group had a fantastic time and said that the resort was unbelievable. With all of the pools they have it is easy to find what you are looking for, a quiet day away from noise and people or the main pool with a bar and entertainment events/games taking place. All of the restaurants are very good and a few of them are excellent, we particularly enjoyed the Japanese restaurant and their menu. The lunch buffets by the pools are very good and never gave us a reason to try the lunch buffet at the indoors restaurant. The breakfast buffet has everything that you could want and will not disappoint. The thing that made it such a wonderful experience for our entire group was the staff, the waitresses/waiters, entertainment staff, and the wedding planner were nothing short of amazing. They remember your names, they are fun and kind, and they make you feel very welcome.
Points négatifs: The complaints I have are hardly complaints. The floors in the rooms and hallways are pretty slippery when wet, which is quite often if you are coming from the pool/beach. The hotel had mentioned to us that they are renovating a handful of rooms at a time and trying out new tiles to help with this. As long as you are aware they can be slippery and don't try to sprint around, you'll be just fine. The only thing that bothered us, and it was an isolated issue that I don't hold over the entire resort, was an experience we had with a gentleman at one of the restaurants. On several occasions he was difficult to deal with and not wanting to accommodate groups. We were told before going that there may be an additional charge for dinner groups over 6, which we understood as they are setup to deal with smaller groups and couples. Every restaurant was more than helpful in seating the occasional group of 6-10 and never charged us for it...except for one. One host of a restaurant was determined to charge us for bottles of wine for the table or else our wait but be extended. If we bought wine our tables would be ready almost immediately, if we didn't buy wine it would be an hour. Again, this was an isolated incident and did nothing to dampen our moods...we would simply go to another restaurant and be seated immediately.

Points positifs: My husband & I went here for our honeymoon. It was a beautiful resort, modern (which is what we like) & the staff is VERY friendly & professional. We stayed on the 'Adults only' side. The only critique we would say was there were A LOT of kids. There is only one restaurant on the adults only side, so unless you want to eat seafood the whole trip, the other 8 restaurants allow kids. Highly Recommend!
Points négatifs: Too many kids!

Points positifs: The resort and grounds are beautiful and immaculate. The amount of work it must take to keep the sand raked, the pools clean, every cabana and chair covered in a fresh towel cushion all day and night... very impressive. The food was also good. Much better than the last all-inclusive we tried. Lots of vegetarian stuff. Very fresh. Flavorful. Of course the pizza stunk but pizza isn’t the point of México.
Points négatifs: Service was terrible. There was a frustrating error at least 1-2 times a day during our stay and while everyone is human and mistakes happen, no one took responsibility for those errors. Day 1: During the long sales pitch (I mean “check-in”) we were offered an upgrade to a swim-out room. We’d wanted that anyway but they’d been full so we were happy to pay for the upgrade. A 10 min walk and two elevators later we say to the bell hop: “wait why are we going up again? How is a swim-up room upstairs?”... turns out we were told and SOLD the wrong thing. Not a swim up room and there are none available. No one ever called or came to us to apologize and they still charged us for the upgrade. (Comping the $200 upgrade would have been an easy and relatively cheap way to apologize for the error- our company does things like that without the customer asking... because... customer service.) Day 2: a) our room is never cleaned. Until I go to the front desk to complain at 8:30 pm. b) Rico - the sales pitch guy (I mean “personal concierge”) calls. Acts like nothing happened yesterday and when I bring up the room issue he says it was everyone else’s fault and I can come down to talk to the manager if I want. Sigh. He tries to sell me stuff. I remind him he promised to look into special options for my wife’s birthday. He clearly didn’t do it. And forgot. So he says he will call me back. 15 min later he called back and says “It’s all arranged.” I have to push to get him to say what. His grand “gift” at an all-inclusive resort? A piece of chocolate cake. My wife doesn’t like cake and is allergic to chocolate. I say we don’t want that and we are very disappointed. No thank you. c) We hang our Do Not Disturb sign out while our kids nap. And then: “Hola? Hello?” Bang, bang, bang. I go to see what emergency would force someone to ignore the DND sign... it’s a hotel employee delivering... the piece of chocolate cake. Yup. d) when he gets sent back with the cake and the message that we are upset we hear nothing. e) ironically that one 2 hour window when the DND sign was on is used as the reason why our room was never cleaned and also why something we’d purchased the day before was never delivered. Day 3: a) we reserve a cabana over the ocean. Beautiful. And no service. For 4.5 hours. I go to the bars and ask for service 3 times. I get us all our drinks and food and bring them out myself. On the 3rd request I complain until I find someone who promises to bring something specific out. It comes...20 min later. And the person bringing it is clearly the server for our cabana and there is no apology- not even a “anything else?” b) Rico sees us in the lobby and comes over to ask us how we liked the birthday surprise. (Seriously). He says there should have been a banner too. Oh great. Again everyone else’s fault. Day 4: Bellhop, scheduled to come get our bags at 9:45, is a no-show. We lug six bags, stroller, 2 kids all through hotel. Employees don’t help. No return trip here
