"Boarding was straightforward in IST, but security was strict (everyone's passport, boarding pass, and Covid tests were checked and re-checked 3 times within about 40 ft by 3 different sets of TK employees), with a final carry-on bag check with bomb nitrates swab for every passenger. And that was before boarding passes were scanned to step onto the plane. I first flew Turkish Airlines in 2005 and was extremely impressed. (The strict security process for flying to the US was much the same then as now, when they flew from the old Istanbul airport.) I have flown TK several times since and seen improvement, but not at the rate of its competitors, especially in the region. However, for my last trip (with a long leg between IST and LAX) they were half the price of other flagship carriers. Food quality, quantity and variety have declined, although that may be due to Covid restrictions. The lavatories remained clean but at least one ran out of TP & all other paper supplies half way to LAX. A couple of passengers (in economy, with me) took to using the business class lavatories and got into a dispute (real shouting match) with the flight attendants about it. (The passengers were in the wrong and escalating with unreasonable demands, but one flight attendant let his temper get the better of him. I didn't count but it seemed that there were fewer flight attendants on duty, with one being a fully robed "hygiene officer".) They did take Covid seriously, and distributed hygiene kits with masks, wipes, etc. to every passenger. If transiting through Istanbul before a long flight leg, consider using the airport hotel (YotelAir) within the terminal for international transfers (behind security). Reserve a room, as it was booked out when I last flew through. Otherwise, there are few places to sit down or rest once through to the International Transfers area."

Then I said okay, I’ll move if I get a refund and the the flight attendant said that they will. So then I swapped to a middle seat by the attendants directive all the way in the back. After the plane takes off, the flight attendant said that can not refund me the upgrade. I was extremely frustrated and felt discriminated because of my age and size. I demanded to sit back to my original assigned seat but they refused. Not to mention, the flight was delayed!! Unpleasant experience and a rip off."

Points négatifs : "After missing our connecting flight in Istanbul on our Turkish Airlines flight on January 9th from LAX-Addis Ababa (due to a nearly 45 minute delayed flight), my sister and I had to spend 24 hours in Istanbul and still pay for a night in our 4 star hotel in Addis, despite the fact that we weren't there. So, in preparation for our flight back to LAX, I spent hours on the phone with a Turkish Airlines representative to ensure that we would not miss our connecting flight on the way back to LAX on January 29 (Jomo Kenyatta-IST-LAX). The TA representative spoke very little English and became incredibly frustrated with me when I expressed my concern about how closely scheduled our connecting flights in Istanbul were. The representative said she could "help us" by seating us at the back of the plane from Jomo Kenyatta-IST, as she was "mostly sure" that our plane would deboard from the back of the plane once we arrived in Istanbul and, in theory, we wouldn't have to wait behind all the other customers to exit. This was totally incorrect: our plane only deboarded from the front exit door and the seats she selected at the back would surely have caused us to miss our next flight were it not for the fact that the plane wasn't full and we arrived only a few minutes late. Still, by the time we got off the plane in IST, our connecting flight was already 15 minutes into boarding. We showed the TA attendants our boarding passes at the long security line, and at first they both said, "don't worry, it will be fine". I had to convince them to let us skip the line as we would clearly have missed our flight. Once we finally made it through security we ran through the ENTIRE Istanbul airport to get to our gate, as we could hear them calling the final boarding call for our flight to LAX. We literally ran as fast as we could for almost 20 minutes straight, with all of our bags, which ended up being over a mile, I would guess. When we got to our gate, we had to go through yet another security line - WHY??? Apparently there was a celebrity in front of us, and while we were sweating and nervous about missing our flight, the security agents were taking selfies with the celebrity. It was insulting and rude and totally unprofessional. The take away for me is that Turkish Airlines should NOT be allowed to sell flights to people that give them less than an hour to make international connecting, especially in an airport as large and disorganized as Istanbul, and especially when Turkish Airlines flights are often late or delayed. This was one of the most stressful flying experiences of my life."

I was instructed to do multiple errands, to get Turkish visa, etc all on my expense to be able to exit the transit as an American citizen and be able to take Turkish airlines bus to the hotel.The hotel was fine and the meals. The problem was that they calculate bus traveling time wrong in the hotel and put people on the bus next day too late, so due to the traffic jam, we barely made it to the airport, and then we had to stress the officials to put us on the fast passport control lane due to boarding time."

All the crew are so nice and it is their policy to give you all of the comforts - pillows, blankets, headphones, drinks (including alcohol), movies, musics, games, meals, snacks and probably more! I don't think they have a way to take money! This was the best flying experience I have ever had! The plane itself was also very nice. There was touchscreen in front of me with all kinds of entertainment plus a USB charger for my phone. They also made sure the closest connecting flight folks had gate attendants waiting for them. The service is phenomenal all the way around!"

Points positifs : "The people who work for Lufthansa are the nicest i’ve met, on par with Turkish airlines. The times for boarding and departure were respected, the flight crew was extra nice, even accommodating requests that gave them extra-work. Economy passengers were treated like first class in terms of service and solicitude of the crew. Headphones, blankets, pillows were offered free of charge, so we’re the food and drinks, and there was a good selection of movies and music. On a 770$ ticket, mind you! The crew will come by repeatedly to check if passengers desired some more wine or coffee, offered water and juices on a tray several times outside the regular service times, and cared for the families with children. Thumbs up!"

The flight attendants seemed to just want to “get it over with” with questions like “are you done?” The attendants wanted to take our drink order as soon as we got in without giving us a chance to settle into our seats and kept hovering over us until I had to ask her to give us a couple of minutes. The airline did not stock enough snack and ran out mid flight. We had to wait for the next meal service which was not fun. I ended up getting a sweet drink just to get by. Internet, which was paid, was so slow that I got tired of watching it trying to load the pages and gave up. Eventually, the connection completely stalled even though I still had over an hour remaining of the 4 hour package. I used maybe an hour of the total purchase. Total waste because I couldn’t get any work done. Overall, I did not think this was an experience worth a business class ticket."

However, Aeroflot security didn't listen to me and kept saying I'm okay( I guess she wanted to say I was a right gate) and didn't let me talk to groundhostes, and kept screeming to others to show her their boading pass. I could get to talk groundhostes right when I get in the flight, not sure my baggage were with me. My suitcase was damagged at both flights on the way and back. And had to wait for two hours to receive the form, and to claim it, you have to submit so many documents and takes tim e. I am waiting for it."

Points positifs : "This was a cheap flight from LAX to ZRH with a layover in Moscow and that's about as good as it gets."
Points négatifs : "The check in personnel was not that helpful and were very slow to check in everyone to their corresponding flights, and since kiosks were not available for aeroflot the experience was unavoidable. The plane economy class is really as uncomfortable as it gets for a transatlantic flight. There were no beer options for the flight (nor vodka which is weird), and flight attendants weren't that happy to talk to you in English. 5 hours wait at Moscow are the worst, if you're thinking on saving some dollars on a transatlantic flight this is not worth it."

Points positifs : "My initial flight from LAX to Moscow 10 days before the video entertainment system wasn't working for anyone, so we had to endure a 12 hour flight without movies or music. But this flight the system was working so I was happy for that. Food was fair."
Points négatifs : "Again the on boarding process was a mess. Gate number changed and everyone was once again cramming them selves into the line from all directions. Essentially there was no line. We also were at a gate where another flight ahead of us was still boarding (to London) so I think that made people more anxious and frustrated. When we finally passed through the gate and boarded a transport bus, the bus only took us a few feet away to the next gate, and they had us climb up a set of stairs up to the entry way from where our original gate number was located. Why even bother changing the gate then!"

Points positifs : "Cabin staff (Russian) tried very hard, had limited English, drinks available through our flight. In flight entertainment there were a lot of choices (13 1/2 hr flight). For LA to Spain it was the best price."
Points négatifs : "Announcements from flight deck in English very hard to impossible to understand. Most passengers are Russian. There are some differences in culture and etiquette that exist and you can either deal with them or you can't. Their norm is to be willing to stand in long lines. Personal space may be less than what we are accustomed to in US. The airline staff usually have some English but are not interested in having a discussion with you, just a couple of words. Food: passable, no more. Lady sitting next to me opened up a paper then plastic wrap, placed 2 smoked fish on a stack of napkins then proceeded to dismantle it with her fingers and eat it. It was smelly and disgusting. I commented to a flight attending that I found this impolite to inflict on other passengers - nothing was done - she didn't say a word to the passenger. I don't want to rule others but when I pay money, I don't feel that I should have no say. I might do it again but the cost difference would really have to make it worthwhile."

The worst issue was that there was one family with extremely loud children with the parents doing nothing. I saw a steward way up the plane looking down at them at one stage while serving another passenger but she did nothing. I like children but this was constant with the father actually encouraging the children to make more noise once he realised that other passengers were annoyed. There were plenty of other children on the plane who were behaving. Although SAS staff were aware of this they did nothing to ensure the comfort of the other passengers. One friend of mine stood for about 40 minutes at the back of the plane and another for about 20 minutes to get away from this constant noise as it was so loud and persistent. I had to listen to music to block it out.SAS staff should have intervened because this was very loud and as I have said constant i.e. every few seconds for most of the flight."

Also, on my initial flight, they closed the check-in early and left many of us stranded without knowing who to talk to and how to manage to get on the plane. When someone from SAS finally came, I was told I would be escorted through security and most into the plane but then the "manager" or whoever was in charge denied it. The plane did not leave for another our and instead of arguing with the costumers they could have just helped us get on the plane. It was unfair of them to close the check in desks early and on top of that to catch a plane the next day they wanted to charge and exorbitant fee. I Wii never fly SAS again."

I finally emailed vayamas/kayak to cancel and 5 days later received a reply that there was no cancellation refund. Apparently Kayak provides a no communication/no refund policy. My travel companion had the opposite experience with Expedia."

She told me, holding the used bottle mostly full, that if I wanted more , I should buy a bottle !!!! And put it away !!! How insensitive and inhuman !!! I didn't know she was going to open a bottle !!!! Very insulting !! 2) When another stewardess passed by offering food, I asked what did we have a right to and she (only then) offered me tea or coffee (which should have been offered first). They I asked, as in all other flights (short South American flights and USA donestic) if she gave crackers or nuts to which she unnecessarily gloated pointing to the curtain that there , in economic plus , they had everything free ...insulting treatment and unnecessary information ...just like in my trip to Nice !! Same attitude ...it's probably horrible training courses. 3) you'd think the men and women that speak over the loud speaker would have bothered to learn English ...it was broken English and even sounded like babble to me...so I just ignored it ! 3) again no instructions for transfer as you come out of the plane. Had to figure it out asking cleaners ..as my flight was at night again. People below seem to coincide in that they complain of rudeness and lack of re-direction."

I had my disabled husband and a young active little grandchild... Cathay Pacific, PAL,KAL, CAL are great about priority boarding for the elderly and children. Its sad your company do not have compassion or empathy for families with little children and the elderly population.. They really suffer!"

"British Airways desk was not structured enough in Nice terminal 1. No sign before the registerer indicating that the Locator Form must be completed before reaching the desk. The previous day I couldn't complete it as the British Airways website didn't allow me to registerer online an attribute a seat number. I have waited 2 hours to register and was denied as the Locator Form was not done and assumed that I could complete it at the desk. The officer closed the register in front of me not even giving any assistance. I had to argue to have my flight reschedule for the following day and have my boarding pass edited with the seat number to complete the Locator Form very easily that should have been done by the officer in the first place...."

Are they all vampires? Why did my overhead light shine on the seat next to mine? Never mind... the flight was fine. Nothing to shout about, except for what I wrote in the next "What I didn't like" box...."
Points négatifs : "I was assigned a window seat. I asked an agent if I could get an isle seat because I am a little claustrophobic. She said yes, and gave me 24D. Great, but I was annoyed and upset that she did not warn me that it was a front seat, with now place to put my personal bag. The wife of the guy next to me was 10 seats away, so I found an isle seat at the back of the aircraft and moved, so she could be with her husband. It all worked out okay, but the agent should have been more informative and have offered the option of that rear seat. It's not nice to be sneaky."

Points négatifs : "Landed almost an hour late. Food was HORRIBLE. worst pasta of my life. The crew while kind, we busy chatting in the galley most of the flight. Never came around (besides the initial drink cart and the meal) to offer water or check on passengers. They forced me to close the window while we were flying and I bought a window seat so i could look out. The boarding process was very slow and disembarking took ages. Problems with loading the baggage led to an issue at baggage claim where they were stuck."

Points positifs : "Because someone was sitting in my seat, I was moved to one near the exit which has more legroom, without having to pay £28. The flight was on time and we were kept well informed of some chaos that was happening around push back."
Points négatifs : "The atrocious check-in process - why only 24 hours or less? Why are you always allocated a seat between other people. Why is it almost impossible to change that? - oh yes, because BA want you to pay a premium to avoid the hassle."

Points négatifs : "The plane was freezing for 11 hours. Flight attendant said it would be adjusted but it never was. We were against a wall and seats did not recline. Very little room."
