I was amazed to see that no one was keen to understand my problem at both he airports i.e. Auckland Airport & Ganzhaou Airport. Apart from this the behavior of your officials was so rude & arrogant it made me feel as if i was a slave or some kind of culprit. Due to the ignorance & laid back attitude on your part i couldn't reach my destination on my time. Seriously it took me "24 hrs Extra" to reach my destination & as a result of which i couldn't perform the cremation. I was pissed off by the service; complete ignorance by the staff/officials of ur airlines. I wasn't expecting this kind of treatment from a reputed company like you. I request you guys to look into this matter seriously and try to take some corrective measures so that this thing won't happen in future with someone else."

The second flight does not wait for the connections and there is no plan for the predictably stranded passengers. The airport is littered with stranded travelers. Alternate routings often involve transit Visas which take some eight hours of queuing up. In the meantime, business and economy travelers alike are stranded without food, water or information in a BITTERLY cold terminal. There is no food or drink to buy. On top of that, officials and service people don't speak much English. Given the experience of my co-passengers today and those stuck in the terminal for the past few days, one has to wonder why the airline flies these sectors at all."

Points négatifs : "We flew from NYC- JFK to Siem Reap Cambodia and back with the airline. On the way back I was unable to choose seats online prior to boarding. We were placed in Row 63, which is the LAST row on the plane and does not recline. For a 15 hour flight this seating should not be used. It is completely unreasonable to think people will be ok not reclining, and honestly the seats felt more straight up than the normal seats. After discussing it with the crew for half an hour on a full flight they were able to move us to other seats. But were unable to move us to business or first for a discount. End point: these seats should not be used! It was so miserable even thinking we might get stuck with them. And if they do stick people there you should be comped, that was not worth the same fare everyone else payed for coach."

I did go out and asked a staff, but she said that you should claim inside near baggage claim. So it means that i could not go inside, so i got out already. - The flight today from Guangzhou to Ha noi was delayed 1.5hours. It was really terrible experience with the airlines. The food was bad."

Attendants allowed spoiled little girl to carry on for ages and then family reunion with 2 coming from economy to play with said brat to business class after I upgraded while most were trying to sleep in whole section."

It was chaotic, with people struggling to find which line to be in. There was no visible guidance from Ethiopian ground crew. Eventually got in line. One guy checking boarding passes for both business and economy. Very slow with again no crowd control. Children were not given priority. Eventually many people went through business queue while others had been waiting in economy. Ground staff were standing around watching and not helping or communicating. Poor show from Ethiopian!"

Points positifs : "I was a bit hesitant to fly Ethiopian Air for such a long flight (Dublin to LAX) however it turned out to be the best leg of multi-segment trip (all other flights were Aer Lingus or Delta and Ethiopian Air was far superior to both of those carriers). Flight attendants were friendly, the physical space was comfortable and spacious, the food was plentiful and delicious. Movies offered were relatively new and the IFE worked well. This flight is a continuation from Addis Ababa to LAX so when we boraded in Dublin most people were already onboard. It was a bit difficult to find space in the overhead bins but with a little rearranging of smaller packages by other passengers, we were able to fit our carry-ons in the overhead bin near our seats."

There even seemed to be ample leg room compared to other Chinese international flights I've been on. I've flown previously with china southern and China eastern, so that is my basis for comparison."

This added quite a bit of confusion for me, seemingly unnecessarily. Also, I'm a bit disappointed in their free hotel room deal for long layovers. When I had a long layover previously with either china southern or china easter (can't remember which one), I got my own free hotel room, a free meal, and a free ride to and from the hotel. That was a real perk for my 12 hour layover. The deal with xiaman is you get a free hotel room, but you have to share it with a stranger of the same gender, and you have to pay for taxi to and from the hotel. Although you do supposedly get a free meal, I chose not to take them up on the hotel offer. Instead I took them up on their transfers lounge. This is a dark, quiet room full of dingy, dirty padded chairs and people sprawled out and snoring. I would have stayed more than 15 minutes if there were more phone charging plugs, but instead I went and ate mcdonalds and found a plug in at the kfc. Aside from all that, I would suggest getting some better Hollywood movies to choose from, as xiamen's competition has them beat there as well, in my opinion."

Exhausted from a 14 hour flight, passengers had their passports taken away; were put through a bizarre 45 minute finger printing process using machines that did not work; and then left to wait for an hour or more with no information. The continuation flight was in another part of the airport - a very long walk; and it turned out not to be at the departing gate that was displayed on the monitors. We arrived at the indicated (wrong) gate with no guidance. Very nearly missed the continuation flight. Once in Xiamen, our arrival was late enough that the second floor of the airport was closed. There were no ATMs on the first floor; no way to get the Chinese cash needed to take a taxi to the airport. Fortunately a kind citizen agreed to exchange some cash, using mental calculations and sign language about the exchange rate."

Same thing happened for at least 10 different people stranded by cancelled flights, even had people trying to call for me from the US. A travel agency was able to switch my friends flights, only to be blocked at his gate by an uninformed Xiamen agent saying he needed a visa for his layover in China, ultimately forcing him to buy a whole new ticket. Xiamen never answered, reimbursed, or recitified any of this. On the flight there, flight attendants had attitudes and SMOKED IN AIRPLANE, it STANK like an ashtray!!! And the food was the worst I ever encountered."

An elder woman was trying to get her bags and exit her row and passengers from behind were not letting her collect and exit. I stopped the rude people from the back who were getting off out of turn. Instructions need to be issued, let people get off the plane in orderly fashion. and (2) crew did not inform passengers what was happening with immigration and customs holdings things up until I hit the service button a few times. Tell the passengers what is going on rather than allow tempers to heat up"

The signage in Xiamen (I was transiting from LAX to TPE) was amazingly poor and confusing. You basically stumble from 1 floor to another based on the signage. The airport was actually very large for what appears to be a medium size city."

Xiamen had a Business class section (small & unfortunately: untested by me). Economy was as expected but imagine getting a Bao (chicken) & packaged fruit, pastries, pickled cucumbers. Hey, beats a pack of peanuts. You could also get a white or red wine (didn't try them) - all for the price of admission. Take that UA, Delta, & AA! Why can't foreign carriers bring their game to the US routes and really give some competition!"

The volume on the media device in front of me was not working. The seats were terribly uncomfortable, my butt was hurting after the first hour."

On the longer flights that really gets old. There was an entire section of the plane where no one bought seats because they were too expensive. After take-off people wanted to move into those seats to sleep but the stewardesses said that we would have to pay 1000 CD for the honor to use those seats...these were the same seats that we were in just a bit more in the front of the plane....people were pissed. These were not 1st class seats.... Uncertain if I would use this airline again...."

She didn't say anything to us until I asked if there was a problem. She explained what the problem was and said everything was ok., but never told us that our flight schedule was changed in Shanghai. We didn't realize until we arrived in Shanghai and they were rushing use to get to the boarding area. We were suppose to have a 10 hour layover. Airline moved our flight up to 10:45 am from 8:00pm. I am 67 years old. My body doesn't want to run anymore. Wasn't happy."

The person on the aisle was sleeping for most of the flight and I didn't want to disturb her so I could get out. I know the best seat assignments are probably given in order of check-in but I also wasn't allowed to check in online. Since my flight was delayed getting into LA, I was one of the last people checked in for the flight and that may be why I was given a middle seat. One other note about the flight... I was unable to hear the flight attendant making the announcements, so maybe something was said about needing to fill out an arrival card for the checkpoint. I assumed that since I was just connecting through and not actually staying in China, that I did not need this card. Needless to say, I didn't find out I needed this card until I waited in line and got to the checkpoint officer. It was not a huge problem for me since I had a lengthy layover in Shanghai, but if I had had a shorter layover, I could have missed my next flight because of this delay."

The single most frustrating thing about flying any Chinese airline though is the blanket ban on all mobile phones during the flight, even in flight mode. Points négatifs : "Kolkata to Kunming flight was delayed and we missed the connection for LAX. It was very frustrating to secure rescheduled flights. Had to go back and forth between counters and staff. Also, we were transpacific passengers to and from North America. Per CE website carry on weight limit is 10 kg. Both at Kunming and Kolkata we were forced to limit carry on weight to 5 kg. This is very much disruptive."

Points positifs : "There was No WiFi so I was great full that there was at least some movies and television show's to keep me entertained on my 20 hour flight."
Points négatifs : "We boarded the plane on time around 11am only to sit on the tarmac for over 4 hours!! It was a nightmare knowing that we were stuck on that plane for 20 hours! 2 of your flight attendense split on me. One being coke and one being water which made my 20 hour flight very uncomfortable on two occasions. The food was good awful. There were no alcoholic beverages or coffee for that matter."
