Points négatifs : I was traveling with sports equipment and tried to pay for it online. I could not find a place to buy extra lugggage for sports only normal luggage, so I had 20kg. Then I was told at the airport I had to pay 100 chf extra for my surfboard. Don’t make the website difficult to use and then charge me extra. It feels dishonest.

Points positifs : Not much to like. Two days before my flight I went on UIA website to choose my seat. There were many seats to choose from, ranging in price from $10 up to $50. I choose seat 26B, a $50 seat, it was near an emergency exit and has plenty of leg room. I get to JFK and received my boarding pass and didn’t notice the seat was 31A. I board the plane, and see someone is in my seat, look at my ticket and see the seat number isn’t as I requested and paid for. So I take my seat in 31A and wait patiently for the stewardess.
Points négatifs : I didn’t like how the situation was handled. I had paid for seat 26B, and someone else was in my seat. The stewardess says there’s nothing she can do, the flight is full. I told her that I was fine sitting where I was, but I would like to be refunded for the seat that I reserved. Unfortunately for both of us, there was little that either of us could do to rectify the situation. I would have been satisfied with an explanation of whom I need to contact to ask for my refund, or have the situation brought to a managers attention that could help me. Overall it was poor customer service.

Only once on this flight did I see a cabin crew member smile. Don't know why, but they were a most unhappy crew that day and this was conveyed to the passengers. I find this hard to believe, and perhaps both my husband and I fell asleep for the few minutes this would have taken, but neither one of us saw a crew member check for seatbelts and seat position before landing in TO. Boarding gate wasn't announced until an hour before boarding, which on an international flight from a large airport was a little stressful, but I am assuming there was a good reason for this.

I explained repeatedly that I am only transiting through Moscow and am not leaving the secured airport area. Still, they did not allow me to board the plane. I had to cancel the flight and buy a new ticket from a different airline that did not transit through Moscow. Kayak and Belavia must tell the passenger prior to ticket purchase that if the flight goes out trough Moscow a Russian visa is required. in my case, they never told me this until I arrived in the airport to board the plane. A terrible experience.

From the hidden fees to the made up regulations where they try to charge 10-50 euros for CARRY ON BAGGAGE to the inefficient way in which they move you through the system to the 2.5 hr delay causing us to miss our connection because of "PERSONAL REASONS" according to our pilot (even though the plane landed on time and just sat on the tarmac)
