Points négatifs : "Our experience in the Istanbul airport. We got off our connecting flight and no one was willing to provide us with directions. We had to stand in a security line for two hours thinking that we had as a consequence missed our connecting flight. Again, no communication. We found out when we finally got through security (we had already gone through security at the Paris airport), everyone was in the same situation and our flight had been delayed. It would have been helpful to know that as we were standing in line. While in the line, many people panicked and starting pushing their way to the front of the line. Again, no officials were there to keep order. It was truly a mess! And creating too much anxiety and stress that I really wanted to not have on my trip back to the USA. I realize that in these times, we must go through added security, but I am accustomed to US airports where there is more communication over the intercom and by airport officials. In Istanbul, it seemed that everyone did not want to give directions, and airport officials seemed to avoid the public they were there to serve."

They yell at you or just simply ignore you. No legroom. The crew did not mention that are flight was delayed prior or that we missed our connecting flight and what to do from there. I was given a hotel room during my layover but its in a scary neighborhood and it smells like sewage is nearby. The Grand Yavaz. The cheaper price is not worth the hassle. I can spend my good money elsewhere...i will be sure to warn others."

The Beijing Airport wasn't pleasant. Had to sit downstairs in the basement gate area just to get internet connection which was non existent. Airport was pretty small to be waiting around for 3 hours. Won't connect through there again."

Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for near-freezing conditions. 2. Loss of baggage, CAN to MNL, flight CZ3091, 1/1/18: The luggage which had our clothes was delayed. Worse, the over-ground delivery of said luggage took too long: one third of our stay in the Philippines. I knew we'd wear the same clothes for almost 24 hours straight, didn't expect to do so for three additional days."

The connections at Guangzhou involve multiple gyrations of shuttles between terminals and immigrations, etc. There was an opportunity to upgrade the cabin while boarding, but was not well announced or implemented. I would have welcomed the chance to upgrade."

The Delta Club at JFK closed before midnight. However the outbound flight from JFK did not leave until 1:40 am. There should be notice where the business class customers should go to get lounge services."

I appreciate the safety measures and I realize that there is nothing that can be done about weather but I am considering booking through Xiamen Airlines from now on because of the consistent nature of these occurrences."

Points négatifs : "Delayed my initial flight 5 hours due to "weather" which was a rainstorm in which other planes of all sizes were landing and taking off. The storm would have been avoided had the plane been on time to begin with. Missed my connection and then had to argue with the manager for 2+ hours just to get a flight that wasn't a full 24 hours away. Was then told that they couldn't upgrade my seat because the flight was full, both business and premium economy had empty rows of seats. Throughout the experience China Southern employees lied to me and did everything possible to make the process harder. Had multiple employees just walk away from me without helping. Will never fly China Southern ever again."

There was absolutely NO EFFORT by China Southern to assist in getting us to our gate in time. I ended running through the terminal to get to the gate about 8 minutes before departure only to be denied boarding by the unknowledgeable staff. if just one person had phoned the gate and told them to hold for a passenger, I could have made my connection. Communication and efficiency is beyond horrific by the Chinese airlines. Its like living in the stone ages."

After 6 or 7 phone calls and several emails to China Southern support we were rebooted on China Eastern only they messed up our new reservations by swapping our passport numbers. Spent the whole day sorting it out, but made our flight. On the way back, the flight left an hour late and when we landed nobody was allowed to disembark. After two hours without any information in English (once we landed the flight attendants stopped translating announcements) we were allowed to get off the plane without any explaination. During that time my wife and I paged the crew more than a dozen times and nobody ever came to see what was going on. We will avoid China Southern in the future."

Points négatifs : "My flight from Shanghai to Beijing was delayed more than 4 hours, which let to missing the connecting flight from Beijing to JFK. Then the nightmare started. It was after midnight when we arrived at Beijing airport. The staff offered no help with re-booking and hotels. I had to spend the night sitting on the cold floor, hungry and anxious till the ticket counter reopened in the morning. The morning staff were even worse than the night crew. They were extremely rude, unprofessional, they lied and insulted customers. Very disappointed with Air China. Will file an official complaint."

I would not of chosen this horrible airlines if I'd known. I would of gladly spent hundreds more on another airline to avoid this inconvenience. I saved games and movies I wanted to play onto my phone for my 20hr flight and learned from the flight attendant that phones usage was not permitted. What a waste. Plus their movie selections were very limited and a complete joke compared to American, Delta, Virgin, or JetBlue. 2. Food: HORRIBLE TASTING FOOD. Air China should be ashamed of themselves to represent "Chinese food" in this way. I found 3 out of 4 of my meals completely inedible and absolutely disgusting. 3. Most cramped seats I've ever flew in: These seats are just tests to see how much you can put up with flying."

I got there three hrs early and had to sit towards back bc airport said that they were not assigning seats behind business class up to 45 at all."

They canceled the global map view right after we took off and it was actuallly the only good thing about their entertainment screen because it looks like they were made when touch screens first came out."

We had stickers put on our shoulders to indicate that we were in a short time window, but it seems that those were badges for us to be taken advantage of by hawkers with mobile carts to pick us up outside security, take us to our gate and then demand cash."

Points négatifs : "they cancelled my flight connecting in beijing to shanghai. no reason this just happens all the time in china. they lost my luggage for hours. they didn't have another flight until the next day. and i was traveling alone meeting my husband in shanghai. so i was just stuck in beijing. they were incredibly unhelpful and unconcerned that i was alone with no luggage, without a phone that worked since i was getting a chinese sim from card from my husband in shanghai, no hotel, transportation etc."

Points négatifs : "The flight was delayed so late that I missed my international connecting flight home despite leaving a four hour gap. The inflight service was pathetic. The food was atrocious, the media system was broken, there was not wifi, and they did not allow the use of cellphones the entire duration of the flight even in airplane mode. The ground staff was completely unhelpful. I was barely able to secure an alternative flight home after about a half hour of negotiating. I don't think I could have got the flight at all had I not spoke Chinese. None of the other foreign nationals were able to get a new flight. The flight they put on back home had to stop in Hawaii and cost me a good extra 8 hours. I got home 12 hours later than I had anticipated. I am filing for compensation. What a joke. Air China shouldn't even both with international flights if all their domestic flights are delayed and they are barely able to help customers speaking their native language (to say nothing of English)."

Points négatifs : "Dirty old uncomfortable seat, no personalized TV, dirty tray table that I had to wipe down myself (and was successful at removing all of the stains which just go to show the poor effort they put in cleaning the aircraft). Food was ok, service was ok. It was the cheapest flight and now I know why."

Points négatifs : "we had a delay from Seoul to Beijing of over 5 hours causing us to miss our connecting flight to LAX our home destination. When we got to Beijing it was after 1:30 in the morning and we were given very poor directions to get on to our connecting flight which was not guaranteed until 9 pm that evening (19 hours later). Thankfully we were able to get on the stand by flight at noon but due to the rush of getting our standby tickets barely an hour before the flight we ended up losing our costly contact lenses at security checkpoint and when my wife called China Air representative to mail the lost items back to LAX when we could pick them up we got no help but have to find some courier service and we are still having trouble getting our items back."
