Cost effective flight back from Kazakhstan

Points négatifs : Airport in Kazakhstan is very basic - dead when you are stuck for 7 hours overnight.

6 hours late with no explanation

Points positifs : I always enjoy travelling on Air Astana. There were not many people on the flight, so the crew treated us like VIPs! Flight was punctual, comfortable.

While the crew did their job, they didn't seem as friendly as usual with Air Astana.
Points négatifs : The Boeing 757 is a narrow cramped aircraft for such along flight. It would be good to have an aircraft with not so narrow seats, such as the A320 or A321 or B767 on longer routes. No boarding announcement at Almaty - they just opened the door and you had to "know" that it was time to board.
Points positifs : The chairs were comfortable and the Chicken dish was delicious.

Points négatifs : The flight attendants ignored me every time they serve drinks. Even when I push the button it took them 10 minutes to get there and then they forgot to bring my water. I had to ask again. There were some Kazak people in front of me, it did not even take two minutes to bring their water. I don't understand, I guess staff is afraid of speaking in English. The aircraft was old and not comfortable.
Flight attendants need to be more attentive

Points négatifs : I experienced the same things in both of my flights. Flight attendants did not even asked me what I wanted to drink. I have to yell them to receive their attention. They really nee some training.

Pilots did an amazing job
Points positifs : Last half hour was through storms. I doubted we would be able to land. Not only did we land, but it was one of the smoothest set-downs I have experienced. These guys/gals know how to fly in winds.

Points positifs : Every seat taken, but with a 2/2 configuration, it was fine. Didn't even have long lines for the toilet. Both landings were super smooth, and one was extremely skillfull - we had been bouncing around in a storm, and the pilot still put us down smoothly.

Points positifs : Almaty airport needs to be improved and pictures on Air Astana web are much better than real ones. Also check in counter personals are really unskilled.

Points négatifs : The transfer from international to domestic flights is not well signposted. It's also odd that even though it's the same building, you have to go outside, walk some minutes and then go back inside. At that time of the year it was quite cold outside!

Points négatifs : Like Astana Airport, the domestic to international transfer at Almaty is also not well signposted and even though it's the same building, requires going outside in the cold and then back inside. Also Almaty Airport is crowded, the toilets are poor and it really needs to be refreshed. Air Astana is a great airline but is really let down by the poor transfers at both Astana and Almaty.

Points négatifs : Flight timing in the middle of the night was horrible. While the seat would have been fine for a day-time flight, it was most uncomfortable to try and sleep in for an overnight flight. What made it worse that the man sitting next to me spilled over into my area.

One of the best airlines I've been on
Points positifs : The crew was extremely pleasant. We received real food with real silverware. The seats were comfortable. I like the little cute bags filled with an eye mask, earplugs, toothbrush and even socks!
Points négatifs : Push come to shove I would say the entertainment system needs to be updated since there was no individual tvs.

Points négatifs : Gate agent said the plane is full and dint look to change my seat but turns out a lot of seats on the plane Flight attendant said no to me to change seat but yes to another Russian speaking pessager! Overall, a bad experience with 49 minutes delayed flight!

Points négatifs : The flight was delayed by 3 hours. They did not even attempt to text, though they knew the flight would be delayed. When I asked the check in agents about this, they said what can they do? This is a serious lack of taking personal responsibility. What can they do? They work for the company! There are several steps they could take, but they chose to abdicate responsibility instead. Even though I'd been there for several hours and specifically asked for a window seat and been granted a window seat, during boarding, they changed my seat to a middle, which was the icing on the cake. Also, during announcements, the pilot did not even give an apology. This is poor management And I'm disappointed in Air Astana.

A 50/50 experience
Points positifs : The first leg from Bangkok to Almaty was amazing. A great crew, a nice airplane and overall a nice flight in economy.
Points négatifs : The second leg was the total opposite. An old plane and a less than ideal flight. That airplane has to be taken out of service or upgraded. Its like we were flying on a plane that hadn't been upgraded since the day they bought it 30 years ago.
Safe and efficient
Points positifs : Good ground handling staff that dealt with my special baggage requests well. Clean new plane. Pre-departure beverages even in economy class.
Points négatifs : No service offered. No drinks, nothing. Admittedly it was only a 35 minute flight but at least water would have been nice in-flight.
Air Astana est la compagne porte-drapeau du Kazakhstan. Issue d’une joint-venture entre le gouvernement kazakhstanais et la société BAE systems, entreprise britannique spécialisée dans le domaine de la défense et de l’aérospatiale, Air Astana a commencé à opérer à partir de 2002.
La compagnie dessert aujourd’hui plus de 60 destinations aussi bien à l’intérieur du pays qu’à l’internationale, en particulier l’Asie, l’Europe et le Moyen-Orient. Elle opère à partir de ses deux hubs : l’aéroport international d’Almaty situé au sud du pays ainsi que l’aéroport international Noursoultan-Nazarbaïev au nord.
La flotte se compose de Boeing 767, 757, d’Airbus A320, A320neo, A321, A321neo, d’Embraer 190 et E190-E2. Tous les vols sont proposés en deux cabines, à savoir Economy et Affaire. Seuls les vols d’Astana vers Londres, Francfort et Paris proposent la classe Economy Sleeper qui permet de bénéficier de trois sièges garantis dans un espace privatif à l’avant de l’avion. Ces sièges se transforment ensuite en lit pour un plus grand confort. La classe Affaire permet de bénéficier sur les long-courriers d’un siège qui se rabat à l’horizontale tandis qu’une trousse de toilette des marques Christian Lacroix, Oscar de la Renta ou Furla sont offerts sur les moyens et long-courriers. Elle donne aussi une place particulière aux enfants puisque, pour les vols internationaux de plus de 3 h au départ du Kazakhstan, des kits de jeu correspondant à l’âge de l’enfant sont offerts ainsi que des menus spéciaux pour les repas.
La compagnie a signé des accords de partage de code avec une douzaine de compagnies internationales dont Air France, Lufthansa ou KLM ainsi que des accords de ligne avec une cinquantaine de transporteurs. Depuis 2014, elle est classée "4 étoiles" par Skytrax, organisme de notation du transport aérien international, ainsi que meilleure compagnie d’Asie Centrale et Inde.
